Tuft and Needle made a big splash in the mattress industry when it offered one of the lowest cost all-foam mattresses in a box directly to customers. As one of the earliest players in the mattress-in-a-box space, they've elaborated on their initial concept with two more innovative designs: The Mint and The Hybrid, which provide high quality, superbly pressure-relieving offerings. On top of that, the Mint Mattress was recently upgraded to include antimicrobial protection embedded in its cover layer. With their three mattresses and 100,000s of positive reviews, customers have spoken in approval of T&N.
Yogabed is a relative newcomer to the factory-direct mattress category. Their Yogabed Classic mattress is made with a proprietary blend of foam that reacts faster and sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam. They also use the addition of gel-infused foam to whisk away heat through the middle layer of the mattress as well. If you are looking for a medium firmness option, take a look deeper into what Yogabed has to offer.
Based on our aggregated reviews and our scoring method, we recommend Tuft And Needle in this match up!

If you are considering one of these mattresses, make sure to read on for more information. Sadly, they don't get the best reception from all customers. Some folks were very comfy in their new beds, but others reported discomfort with the feel.
Support isn't exactly the same as firmness. A well supportive mattress aligns the spine and leads to healthy sleep. Unfortunately, these mattresses aren't the best in terms of support. Most customers are happy with the support right after purchase, but some folks felt like support was lacking over the long term.
Edge Support
For those that sit on the edge of their mattress in the morning, edge support is very important. For most, these mattresses do a good job with edge support, but some didn't think that it was as comfortable long term as they had wished.
Durability is one of the mot important factors to mattress shoppers, but some brands don't care as much about long term quality as they do with immediate profits. These mattresses are above average when it comes to durability. Most folks are still comfy in their mattress after 5 years, but some folks that are heavier may find that there mattress doesn't last as long.

Some folks were completely satisfied with their new mattress, but others had issues with the feel. Despite those that are happy with their selection, this brand has lower satisfaction scores than average. Read on below for more information about these mattresses.
Overall, these mattresses may leave something to be desired in terms of lasting support. Though there are those that like what these mattresses offer them, others don't like how they work with their body. If this brand is on your short list, make sure to read more about it before purchasing.
Edge Support
Overall, edge support is extremely important to those with mobility issues. Other customers don't find it to be a major sticking point for them. These mattresses may not be perfect when it comes to edge support so make sure to do added reading if it is an important item for you.
Long lasting mattresses are wonderful, but not always simple to discover. Unfortunately, customers don't tend to rate these mattresses well in terms of durability. This means that some folks may experience that their mattress lasts a decade, while other mattresses may not last very long at all. If you are a heavier individual, read up on your options because you may be at a higher risk for durability issues from some mattresses.
The upgrades to the Mint mattress addresses the few weaknesses of the standard T and N mattress. We have been extremely satisfied with both of them and have begun giving them to our kids
View More ReviewsThe comfort! I’m obsessed with my queen bed. I no longer have to try to fall asleep-it’s effortless!
The ease of setup.
It's a very comfortable mattress. Soft with nice support.
The original mattress we purchased has exceeded my expectations. I have owned a big name foam matress before for twice the price. This matress meets and or exceeds that. Its nice to be sleeping well again. Easy to unbox, easy to sleep. Thank you!
Quality and comfort. They made a mattress that’s for the consumer at an affordable price. Best nights sleep I’ve had in along time!
Great product, fast delivery, easy purchase process.
The mattress is very comfortable. However the mattress protector makes it seem more stiff and the jersey sheet son top of the protector makes that feel just as rough
Offer firmer mattress option. Bring down prices of accessories like sheets and pillows.
They are all great quality- from the mattresses to the sheets. I also love the simplicity of the product offerings. No one needs hundreds of options, just a few really great ones.
Nothing!
The 100 day free trial and the comfy but firm support and breathability of the mattress.
I just rarely recommend things. If it comes up, I will. The mattress is splendid.
Comfort, quality and price are exceptional.
Great price and so comfortable
It’s neat and new!
Easy to order, fast delivery, easy to set up, well-priced, well rated by Consumer Reports (particularly like the top rating for long-term wear); but the best part is both my husband and I find it very comfortable. It feels firm, but is comfortable and there are no body stress points. A winner.
I’ve had back pain ever since I got the OG mattress.
It is just perfect. A good smooth, comfy but firm sleep. The mattress also stays cool. It is definitely just as good, probably better, than my old tempur pedic set. I am very happy with it. I initially had my reservations and thought I should get another tempur pedic set, even though the cost was so much greater. So glad I took a chance.
Very comfortable and able to be assembled easily.
Ease of ordering, delivery and set up. Quality mattress. Love it.
Comfortable
I have already great products. I personally went from purple to tuft and needles
Unrolled into its seemingly full size immediately. All well wrapped to arrive pristine. A good night's sleep was available same day.
The comfort level is amazing. My sleep has been great. It feels soft and firm all at once. I am a side sleeper and it has made a huge difference for my hips. I have talked a coworker into buying one and my dad and stepmom. Plus I am buying one for my daughter!
Just the right amount of softness and support.
Very comfortable
Excellent quality with a great price. Free shipping and easy set up.
Quality
mattress quality is great.
The mattress was great from night 1!
Comfort
Everything. It takes a little to get use to the change but after that it is awesome
Incredibly well packaged and presented, very easy to assemble frame and support and best of all...the Mint was super comfortable from Day 1!
The mattress is very comfortable and the foundation was easy to set up...
Comfortable mattress. Getting in an out of bed with no noise, quiet mattress. Doesn't hurt side sleepers in the hips and shoulders.
The products are wonderful, it's the customer service that brings it all together and makes it special. As someone who is autistic and can get very easily overwhelmed the attention to care made such a difference for me.
Excellence quality, fast delivery, great engineering of the mattress and platform, easy setup, attractive fabric covering, very comfortable.
I am warmer than I thought I would be sleeping on the mattress. I also have a slight issue with feeling 'stuck' in a position. The height of the bed is also a bit too much, though I suppose it is more like the industry standard than what I had before. It is just that it barely fits in our bed frame, and if we had not bought the support box, it definitely would not have fit in our frame; we would have had to buy a new frame.
Comfort and price
I order the yogabed through their website, which was a breeze and the customer service was excellent. The bed, not so great. Upon unpacking, I notice a VERY strong chemical odor, which is from the foam off-gassing VOC's (volatile organic compounds) It took much longer than 3 days to dissipate, more like one week, which is much longer than anyone should have to inhale such a scent. Initially, the bed felt amazing, the cover is soft and stretchy (probably the best part of the whole mattress) and the top layer felt very nice. Sleeping on it was a different story though. After a few weeks the foam begins to soften as you "break-in" the bed. The parts where me and my partner slept, began to feel softer than the middle of the bed (and we're only 150 lbs). As a stomach and side-sleeper this was not ideal as I began to wake up with lower back pain. So we returned the bed. This seems to be a common problem with many foam beds in this price range. There are other beds on amazon that use similar materials and are a fraction of the cost (dreamfoam, brentwood homes etc). As for me and my partner, we opted for a bed that uses latex (natural, non-toxic, more durable than memory foam and doesn't smell) and a higher density base/core foam (more than 1.8 lbs) which seems to be holding up better. Do your research on foam beds and the quality of their materials. I would not recommend this bed to people who weigh over 180lbs or who have a sensitivity to chemical odors.
View More ReviewsAfter a TON of research on the available beds on the market right now, I felt that the Yogabed offered all of the features I was looking for in a mattress. We were extremely excited when it arrived and the experience of receiving the box, opening the mattress and getting things set up was wonderful. However, the bed was much firmer than I had anticipated! It works great for my husband who is a 6'4" 350# strongman, but my 130# frame feels like I'm sleeping on bricks. We ordered the mattress in November and have slept on it for almost two months now. I have lost more sleep in those months than over the course of my life! We're looking into other options and possibilities now and will be returning the Yogabed before our 101 day trial ends. I had such high hopes for this mattress and am disappointed with the actual product. I am still giving the review three stars though because their customer service and the experience with the company so far has been great, plus my husband said the bed is comfy for him even if it is a bit firm. Maybe a mattress topper would help....
My first night on this bed sucked.
I did not sleep well at all.
After that it was and has been the best mattress I've ever used. Still after almost 90 days it's absolutely incredible.
My wife and I have a new baby and every drop of sleep counts. Believe me when I say as soon as I fall asleep I'm ASLEEP. Often my wife will tell me about waking up to tend the baby and I have zero recollection of her getting up. That's how great I sleep.
I was very worried about how firm it would be, especially from all the reviews and ratings but I guess we are already used to a firm bed because so far this one has been out of this world. Not too firm at all.
To add to it, you can and SHOULD return this mattress within the 101 nights trial if it doesn't work out for you. It sounds like some of the other less than five star reviews have forgotten about this awesome policy. That makes it essentially RISK FREE and I can't understand why EVERYONE wouldn't just jump on regardless if they're sure of the bed or not.
If it doesn't work out for you, they will take it back and refund your money 100%. Simple.
Anyway, I'm writing this from my amazing yogabed and am about to turn out my bedside light for another night of awesome sleep. I can't wait.
Just do yourself a favor and stop debating. GET THIS MATTRESS. It's absolutely risk free and absolutely worth it.
My previous spring mattress was as hard as a rock. I suffered from lower back pain and rib pain as a side sleeper on a hard mattress with pressure points. The first few nights for me was up in the air, as i think my muscles and bones had to readjust. On the 4th night, voila ... i slept all the way through. I think the best way to describe this bed is medium firm with no pressure points. This mattress has literally changed my life, as i am now pain free. I forgot what it was like to wake up without aches. Bottom line is ... your mattress is CRITICAL, buy a good one. I'm sold on the foam concepts. There are now about 5 similar products like this. You can review the comparisons on Youtube. The Yogabed worked for me. If you hate it, they give you 365 days now to return it for a refund. They also include 2 pillows, and the mattress cover unzips so you can wash it. They also will include a topper of memory foam if you want to soften it a bit.
[i bought mine from the Yogabed website, as i had a good promo-code that doesn't work on Amazon. Same net price though]
I've had my yogabed for just over a year now and one thing I can easily say is that I have tested it harder than most anyone could. First, I am 6'4" and weight 270lbs. Right there I am putting more on the mattress than normal. Second, I've developed an auto immune disease. Still doing a bunch of tests but docs think it's psoriatic arthritis. Over the last year my pains levels have gone up and up, which puts me in bed for large portions of most days. A large guy (I'm pretty well proportioned, so not just big in the middle) on the bed for long periods of time.
Having said that, I'm very happy with yogabed. I'm a natural side sleeper, but my situation leaves me only able to lay on my back. When I could, I enjoyed sleeping on my side. Side note, the free pillows are really nice but not thick enough on there own for side sleeping. I do sleep comfortably on my back--as comfortably as I can at least. The mattress has a great feel to it. It gives, but you don't sink into it. Also the little bit of springiness is great to, compared to my previous mattress, a tempurpedic. That thing, while decently comfortable, was like moving in quicksand. Anyway, it also says pretty cool for a foam based mattress.
The cover is great. Super easy to unzip for washing and easy to reattach. It comes with two free pillows, which are high quality and great for back and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers will probably put a small pillow under to get proper head height. I would say the 6/10 firmness rating is right, but remember my size. Someone small will probably consider it more firm. Best thing I can say is, if your on the fence, try it. You get 101 days to try it and if you change your mind, you get a full refund and they will pick it up. Can't lose.
FINALLY! Awe... I think the search is finally over! After approximately a year of trying to find a bed I think I have finally found the perfect mattress for me.
Long story short. Never had back problems but my 10 year old mattress I would wake up with lower back pain (Would go away 10 minutes after getting up) and bed was starting to sag. Time for new mattress
So... I tried A mattress from Room& Board (Firm) and while no back pain was a little too firm. Then on to the online guys Tuft & Needle, Leesa, purple, and Yogabed.
In my opinion Nothing wrong with ANY of these but Yogabed seems to be the best at trading off firmness with bounce, sleeps cool, and price.
OK it's not the cheapest T&N is the winner there and It is not the most innovative, Purple is the winner there. BUT... It definitely sleeps the coolest, the response is very good, and the removable cover is just a plus. For sleeping (Which is probably the most important it has juuuustthe right amount of give where I felt the T&N was just a little too firm (And I like a firm bed) The Purple has too much technology does sleep as cool but is similar to Yogabed at a higher cost (must be trying to recoup all those patent costs or paying he goofy goldilocks actress too much $)
Customer service was good on all of them, but in the end Yogabed is the best option. I believe had Yogabed come out before T&N and the others they would dominate this market. Also you can try the T&N at one of their showrooms and I am sure that helps sales.
Bottom line Try the YogaBed or T&N first If you try T&N and want a smidge more give... go Yogabed If you love Yogabed but want just a smidge more firmness (Pretty firm) then opt for T&N. or if you just listen to me you will buy the Yogabed and not have to worry about any returns. It realy is an amazing Mattress and love it!!! Thanks Yogabed
My husband and I just had our first night on our new Yogabed and we both absolutely love it. It is the perfect balance of soft and firm. We both like that is is not so soft you sink into it like other foam beds. It relives all the pressure points and seems to customize to your body. It also sleeps cool which is great for the warm summer nights here. The pillows are magical as well. THANK YOU YOGABED!!! I'm currently convincing my parents to get one and will probably get a twin for our sons room.
I have had my bed for a little over a month at this point, and I really love it!
I would say that it is about 7.5/10 for firmness. This is ideal for me as it is soft enough to be comfortable, but firm enough that I don't sink into an uncomfortable position. However everyone prefers a different firmness so keep in mind that this mattress is on the firm side of average.
The bed is also interesting to set up, it arrives rolled up and vacuum packed. Once you open the plastic around the mattress it swells up to full size over the next few minutes. I noticed a few other reviews mentioned a weird smell from the mattress, but I only noticed a faint foam smell which dissipated within a day.
I ordered directly from the Yogabed website, and at first I thought I had a problem. All the reviews I had read indicated that the mattress would ship with two pillows but when mine arrived there were no pillows to be found. I sent their customer support a message asking if this was a mistake or if it was a limited time offer that I had missed, and it turns out that it was a promotion that had already ended. But they offered to send me a pair of pillows anyway! So I have to say that their customer support really went above and beyond the call of duty.
That about wraps it up. Comfy mattress, fantastic customer support. If you are looking for a new mattress then consider Yogabed.
Had this mattress for about 2 weeks now and have slept wonderfully. I think it's the perfect combination of a firm base combined with a soft and forgiving surface. Love the textured, cooling exterior of the mattress as well.
Surprisingly, for a free add-on, the pillows that come with the mattress are also incredibly comfortable (I anticipated throwing them in a closet and purchasing pillows separately, but now expect to just use the Yoga pillows).
To those who complain about the mattress being too firm: sure, you have to like a moderately firm mattress to like the Yogabed - but there is a difference between firm (i.e., supportive) and hard (i.e., uncomfortable). This is very much the former, and not at all the latter, in my opinion.
I'm also not a particularly large person (5'9, 140 lbs), so I don't think you have to be a massive individual to enjoy and benefit from this mattress.
my wife and I bought this mattress to replace our old one. we've had it for a couple of weeks. the first few days it was different but now it is great! we sleep soundly with minimal tossing and turning

After a TON of research on the available beds on the market right now, I felt that the Yogabed offered all of the features I was looking for in a mattress.
