Sapira by Leesa is a hybrid in a box offering with pocketed coils and layers of memory and poly foam on the surface-comfort layers. Offering a more luxury feel than the Leesa, the Sapira comes with a higher price point and exclusive brand experience. Based on the firmness specifications, the Sapira should help at straightening the spine for back and stomach sleepers, but others (especially side sleepers) note that it is too firm for them. Overall, there is a lot going for the Sapira and with a generous trial, you should feel comfortable testing it out!
Sapira provides a luxury mattress in a box -- complete with pocket coils and layers of memory foam for added comfort. The springs are made by creating new steel from molten recycled scrap metal (usually from automobiles) so if you are feeling eco-friendly, this is a good one. Here is what's inside:
Layer 1: Similar to the Leesa bed, Sapira has a woven polyester/lycra (a high quality material commonly used in sports clothing) blend cover is one high quality piece of material that is soft, moisture wicking, and stretchy. It is thicker than most, but still offers plenty of airflow and offers a very nice design on the top of the bed.
Layer 2: 1.5'' of cooling performance foam that is aerated so that the heat from the sleeper dissipates. It is a medium resistance piece of foam that adds bounce and softness.
Layer 3: 1.5'' of memory foam that relieves pressure points but does not make you feel like you are sinking into the bed.
Layer 4: The next 1'' foam layer is firmer foam that acts as a transition to the pocket coils and cradles the spine.
Layer 5: One thousand pocket coils provide support, body contouring, and amazing edge support. Also, the pocketed coils limit motion transfer between partners.
Layer 6: The last layer is a 1'' high resiliency base foam that keeps the mattress durable.
This mattress provides a luxury comfort with limited motion transfer. It may be firm for some sleepers who have lighter builds or are side sleepers.
The Sapira mattress is medium firm, but edging toward the firmer side. It may have a break-in period for some and may soften up for heavier folks.
Based on the firmness rating of this mattress, it should relieve back pain symptoms for many. There are also reports of back pain relief, but some side sleepers have had pressure point issues.
Because of the ventilation in the performance foam layer, this bed sleeps cooler than most mattresses with memory foam or latex. However, some warm sleepers will still experience heat retention.
This mattress is a great mattress for those who are back or stomach sleepers wanting a mattress with a luxury feel.

Comfortable and easy purchase. Very satisfied
The bed is very firm. I have to admit I no longer have my back pain. However, I am a side sleeper and have hip pain on this mattress which causes me to toss and turn.
You slowly sink in.....lights out.....it's all paid for! :-)
Really like my Sapira king.
Combo of spring and foam is perfect blend of technologies.
Vacuum packed shipping enabled getting this king up my stairwell (that could not be accomplished with a conventional spring king).
Never realized what I was missing and the positive very real impact to minimizing body pain - I didn’t realize it was my mattress!
Will always have this product in future rooms I furnish and/or recommendations to friends.
Do recommend a few days for offgasing smell of preshly unpacked box
My old mattress was starting to sag and I had back pain in the morning. A few nights on this, and I was as good as new!! Really loving the firmness to comfort ratio. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a firm yet comfortable mattress.
Soft but firm, good quality mattress. Only knock on it is the chemical smell from the materials off-gassing. The smell gradually goes away, just like a new car.
I tried the Leesa and it felt too dead to me; no life, no bounce. The Sapira solved those problems for me. I like that it is soft and springy but still supportive. It's also thicker and the springiness helps propel me out of bed in the morning when my knees don't want to. I really like this mattress and I'm happy I got it.
This mattress was everything I hoped for in comfort. Wife and I are very happy.
So far we have been happy with our new bed. We are both side sleepers and the bed is quite comfortable. Prior to this mattress I couldn’t stand to sleep on my side, my hips really hurt. We hope that the bed continues to feel comfortable going forward!
We’ve been sleeping great! Delivery was fast and set up was easy. Love it!
Sleeping like a dream!
After reading the reviews, I was skeptical like many others of purchasing online. I read a review about an individual who used to sleep on an I-Comfort like we did and described it as sleeping on a warm gummy bear which could not be a more apt description. For three years my wife and I were uncomfortable and unhappy with our warm gummy bear, but after spending 3k on a mattress it is hard to let it go. Now all we want is to climb into bed. The mattress is definitely more firm, but supportive. We sleep like a dream. If you are unsure, give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Back feels great, you wake up refreshed, it is not a hot sleep, and it is a perfect combination between the coils and the foam. Best mattress we have ever had. Looking forward to actually sleeping for years to come.
Getting used to it. My hips feel great, but at times it's a little firm for my shoulders since I ama side sleeper. The leesa regular matress w as good for my shoulders, but too soft for my hips.
This mattress is FIRM, but not hard. Offers great support for the whole body. My wife and have been trying out new mattresses for the better part of a year and finally found one that we’ll be keeping. Thanks, Leesa.
Perfect firmness and comfort. Delivery was fast and easy. The box did weigh a little over 100 pounds though. I like everything about this mattress except the initial chemical smell. Fortunately, the odor disappeared completely after about 30 days. I recommend letting the mattress sit for a few days without sheets to speed up the outgassing process.
We love it! Great improvement over 10 year old Tempurpedic
Love this mattress... just the right firmness
I am no expert on mattresses, but I have spent time comparing prices on mattress and this seemed to be the best for the price. At first it took some getting used to. Now I don't want to get out of bed anymore when the morning comes. My body aches much less than before. If i were alone I might have got the Leesa over the Sapira, but I wanted the extra support on the edge of the mattress. Worth every penny.
This is the best sleep I've ever had. I loved the product so much, I returned the Queen size for a California King. Leesa support was excellent through every step of my exchange and really went the extra mile for me to have my new bed before my old one was removed. Highly recommended!
I have friends and family that think that it is too soft. For years i've slept on a firmer memory foam mattress and thought it was fine but I was always hot. My first impression (really, no pun intended), was that it was indeed too soft but what lured me to take the challenge was the 100 night gaurantee and the claims of cooler sleeping conditions. It is indeed on the soft side but I feel that this and it's built in coolness allow (encourage?) me to stay in one place. I just moved so I am super busy and not giving my back the attention it needs, yet, my back feels better than expected.
Love this mattress and was absolutely amazed how it came via UPS in a box. It made getting it in the house so easy! Highly recommend!
We considered all the available ship-in-box mattresses and went with Leesa based on the good reviews, and simple ordering process (having only 1 style mattress). We are super pleased with the result! A comfortable, not to firm not to soft, mattress.
I used to wake up a couple times during the night on another online memory foam mattress that I tried, but now I don’t wake up at all during the night!!
Wondering about permanent body impression/dip... we will see..
Love my Sapira mattress ! We had a pillow top mattress that sent you to the middle I’ll never have anything but a sapira again no more rolling to the middle also we went from a gueen bed to a king (even better) they are a firmer mattress but the more you sleep on it the more you get use to it and I recommend it highly . Also the convenience of having it delivered and easy setup.
its just okay, i don't think my mattress is leveled properly
The firm mattress is extra firm. Probably should have order the regular. Seems to be a good product but overpriced.
The best ever mattress with a convenient purchase and set up experience. My husband and I are finally experiencing a full nights rest which we have not had in years!
I had a Casper mattress before this one. I felt like the Casper lacked a bit of cushion on top. I don’t feel this way about this mattress. It’s the perfect firmness and cushion.
Great bed. Best test in years
This bed exceeded our expectations. It feels so still and relaxing. No springy feeling or sinking feeling. Overall comfort. Highly recommend.
I loved the leesa but the sapira is even better!
Thanks to some thoughtful YouTube reviews, I decided the bed-in-a-box that would probably work best for me was the Leesa. I could not have asked for a better mattress; It’s supportive and so very comfortable. I look forward to sleeping in it every night, and if I’m lucky enough to have the time in the morning, I just like to lie in it and revel in how it feels. The mattress I had before was a traditional spring mattress with a pillow top, but it was far too soft and caused severe discomfort in my hips and joints every day; my husband and I hated that thing but felt bad about throwing it out before having owned it for ten years. Just sitting down on the Leesa to put on or take off my shoes is a pleasure. We’ve had it for a month and-a-half now, and I’m confident it will not disappoint for years to come. Our previous mattress became a nightmare just after a few days! I highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a firmer mattress with just the right amount of cushioning support.
We liked it, but we also ordered a Nest and thought it was a comfortable and was cheaper and this was for a guest bed...so we are returning it. Thanks.
If you like a soft but firm mattress, you'll love it, but coming from 20 years on a waterbed, it's too firm for us.
Unfortunately I had to return the mattress due to being too firm for my situation. I sleep on my side and have had rotator cuff surgery. The mattress had a luxurious feel, seemed well made and slept cool. Just a bit too firm for my bad shoulders. The return process went great.
The matteress feels wonderful. Took me about 1 week yo get use to it. Guess I’m just shocked that I could buy a mattress that feels that good for that price and one that comes in a box. Will I still feel this same way in 1 year or 5 years from now......we will see.
I was sceptical about purchasing a mattress online. I tried out similar mattresses in stores, but they were nearly double the price. I took a chance and am so grateful I did. This mattress contributes to a restful night's sleep and I do not wake up with pain, which I have had chronically for over 10-years from an accident. My husband gets very warm and night and he was concerned it would sleep hot, but he says he stays cool enough throughout the night. The only thing I'm sad about is I missed out on the free $75 pillow that is a recent promotion! If it's anything like the mattress it's well worth the investment.
This the most comfortable bed I have ever owned...
Only problem with our sapira is leaving it in the morning.. a fabulous nights sleep.. bravo
We both love the Sapira..it has the perfect amount of give and support for both of us even tho our body types and sleep preferences are very different....
So comfortable! Don’t even notice other person getting in and out
We started with the basic Leesa Mattress but found it was too hot - I'm someone who sleeps hot, and any part of me that sank into the memory foam would be drenched in sweat when I woke up. Not so with the Sapira Mattress. Although more expensive, the exchange was definitely worthwhile for a dramatically better night's sleep. The Sapira feels very similar to an innerspring mattress in terms of structure, but offers the pillowy comfort of a foam mattress. It's both firm enough and soft enough. We love it!
I have bee sleeping on my new Sapira Mattress for several months. It is far and away the best mattress I have ever slept on.
Set up was very easy.
At first I didn't like it, I thought it was to firm but I bought a big fluffy mattress cover and now it seems very nice.
I really don't like this mattres. It's much more firm than I anticipated. I wake up very sore every morning. Plan to send it back soon.
I reviewed the bed several places, it is Great
Comfortable mattress, no back pain in the morning. Bought the box spring too, but it sits lower than expected. Just have to get used to it.
Love mattress. Super comfortable. Shipping way late and sent to incorrect locations.
First night sleeping on it I did wake up a little sore. But after that it has been great sleep. I am a side sleeper, but haven't had a problem with the mattress being more on the firmer side.
When I first got the Sapira mattress, I was mesmerized as it actually opened itself right in front of my eyes! The first thing I did, OF COURSE, is that I plopped down on it, and I liked it a lot. Then, I got ready for bed and after a very long day and a sore back from a bunch of lifting I had done that day, I crawled into bed expecting a blissful nights sleep!
It was horrible. I couldn’t find any place on the mattress that was comfortable. I tried every position imaginable. Not my side. Not my back. Not by stomach. NOWHERE TO ESCAPE INTO SLEEP.
I decided to stick out the torture for one week and I promised myself i’d be open minded about it for at least that long. All of a sudden after a few nights of torture, I magically found my “spot”…..AND, after not being able to sleep more than 6 hours at a time for many years…I now sleep for over 8 hours and I even get drowsy the minute my body hits my Sapira aka my new BFF!
I tend to have people sleep over. Everyone always says, nice bed.
My husband is 30 and just had back surgery almost a year ago for a badly herniated disc. Since his back issues started, we’ve been searching for a bed that would work for him. He’s over 6’ and I am 5’ even, so we also have different needs. However, we both like beds on the firmer side. We thought we’d found a good option in a sleep number bed as it would give us the freedom to adjust firmness and each side was personalized. Boy we were wrong. We trialed that bed for several weeks and his sciatica (shooting nerve pain) returned and we were very fearful that his back surgery had failed. We were ready to call the bed search off and just buy a traditional spring mattress when my sister told me about their Leesa mattress. I will say that their original mattress is a bit on the soft side for us and we didn’t absolutely love it but then saw the Sapira mattress and that it would offer more support and firmness. We took a risk and ordered it. The 100 day return policy gave us a lot more peace about trialing it. Let me say, within 1 week of using the Sapira mattress, my husband’s back issues resolved and we’ve been sleeping very well. Each day we look forward to the moment we can finally get in bed and the word we use most often to describe how it feels is “luxurious”!
A+ nights sleep
My husband and I have a split king bed. We have an adjustable base for each extra long twin bed. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and support of the beds. The only negative we have experienced so far is that the bed will bunch up in the middle when we have the adjustable bases in TV/PC mode. This didn't happen at first but after about 6 weeks it started happening. It doesn't affect our sleep since the beds are in a lower position when we sleep. But, it is annoying when we have them in TV/PC mode. We asked customer service prior to buying the beds if they were compatible with adjustable bases and they said they were. I don't know if the problem will get worse over time since we've only had the beds for about 6 or 7 weeks. But, we hope that this will be the extent of it.
This is the real deal, was skeptical at first but very happy!!!
My only concern is, if I didn’t like the mattress not sure how I would return it
Excellent We Sleep much better now
Good product but wasn’t for us.
Love the way this bed is made I have yet to find a bed that let's me sleep all through the night and this one did for the first few days as all other beds that I have tried they tend to soften up a bit as you use them I need a really firm bed and this is a firm bed but it starts to soften up a bit after a few days it doesn't seem to bother my wife and she likes a softer bed but overall I am really impressed with the quality of the matress.
I have had my Sapira for several months now. It was delivered and packaged as promised, took about three minutes to completely inflate [if that], and has overall been a delight! I did experience neck and upper back pain for the first three weeks or so, as my body adjusted to the mattress. I was partially expecting this, especially as my last mattress was pretty soft. I am not very adjusted and wake up extremely refreshed every morning!
My only caution is to think twice about buying this mattress if you don't like a very firm feel. I would also probably not set this mattress up in a guest bedroom, as it may not be the best night's sleep for your guests who aren't used to or expecting the firm feel.
First night was great, but I could use a bit softer mattress. Overall, it's a vast improvement over my former Sleep Number bed and holds up well under my weight.
I’m one of those people that research everything for a long time before I pick something. Went through all the blogs / review sites (sweethome / sleep like the dead / etc). We’re not a lot of reviews of this so figured we’d take a chance. Came down to this or the beauty rest hybrid at $600 extra or so. I’m 6’2 160lbs and my wife is 5’3 100lbs. In the end it’s just way to firm for people of our size and weight. Not looking for super soft but on the softer side of medium. We tried putting the sweethome best rated mattress topper on it and slept on it for a while like that, but still not great. Only bad thing I read about this mattress was that it’s on the firm side and I’d definitely agree. We had to return. It’s too bad, liked everything about it and the company.
