Purple

Purple® mattresses are taking the industry by storm with their super lightweight polymer that is purple. It uses 'smart grid' technology to keep things cool and relieve joint and pressure point pain. Overall, they run a bit less firm than other memory foam mattresses and are rated in the medium firmness range, which is great for side sleepers. Some folks love the feel of this mattress, though there are others that prefer a more traditional feel.

Tuft And Needle

Tuft and Needle made a big splash in the mattress industry when it offered one of the lowest cost all-foam mattresses in a box directly to customers. As one of the earliest players in the mattress-in-a-box space, they've elaborated on their initial concept with the innovative Mint Mattress that provides a higher quality, universally comfortable all-foam design. With 100,000s of positive reviews, customers have spoken in approval of T&N.

Based on our aggregated reviews and our scoring method, we recommend Tuft And Needle in this match up!

Purple's Owner Satisfaction

Purple is well-rated by customers when it comes to overall feel and pressure point relief. The top polymer layer is well-liked by most customers, but there are some that had disagreements about the feel. Versus Tuft & Needle, Purple does well with providing multiple firmness options, but has some issues with universal comfort. If you are looking for the best mattress options, take a look at our list of the best rated mattresses.

Purple's Supportiveness

Most find Purple's mattresses to be supportive, which means the support layers of the mattress help align the spine and work together with the softer polymer layer above. That said, there are a few negative reviews from customers when it comes to the feel of the top layer and how that affects support, so make sure that the mattress specs align to your body and sleeping position.

Edge Support
Overall, most sleepers report that these mattresses have good edge support, which means most sleepers don't notice a dip while rolling towards the edge or sitting on the side of the bed, especially for the firmer New Purple mattress option.

Purple's Durability

If you have a mattress that continues to be comfortable for a long time, it's an immediate financial saving. This is one of the reasons that customers strive so hard to find mattresses that last. That said, lots of brands are more concerned with profit. Even in spite of that, there are still some great brands that build good products. Purple mattresses have good durability for most sleepers overall. Unless you are of a plus sized build, these mattresses should last 7 - 12 years.

Tuft And Needle's Owner Satisfaction

Overall, Tuft & Needle gets great reviews from customers. Their two mattresses offer luxury builds and are price-competitive, which most customers report feeling cozy about. For those that are looking for the best T&N option versus Purple, check out the Tuft & Needle Mint mattress.

Tuft And Needle's Supportiveness

Overwhelmingly, T&N does a great job marrying back support with pressure point relief for their customers in both their Original and Mint mattresses. Their mattresses provide extra support for the middle spine and do well relieving pressure from the hips and shoulders.

Edge Support
Most mattress experts agree that edge support is an important attribute in a mattress search. Overall, these mattresses offer strong edge support, which means sleepers notice good support when they roll to the sides.

Tuft And Needle's Durability

It is tough these days to find products that last a long time. Brands, by and large, go after profits first rather than building something that lasts forever. However, there are still pack leaders out there. Customers say that T&N mattresses do a great job on quality. Most sleepers will find them to last between 7 - 12 years, though some who are on the heavier side may experience them to falter a bit sooner.

Excellent - Jonah

I read and watched multiple reviews and was a little skeptical about if this mattress would be a good fit for me. I decided to give it a try, and am so happy with my decision. I have only been able to sleep on it a few nights, so I can't speak to long term satisfaction, but just the feel of the mattress is so unique and comfortable. Every time I pass by my bed now, I can't help but flop on it and lay there for a few minutes. If you are on the fence about trying the mattress, I would say go for it for sure. The only disadvantage that I've noticed so far is that it is near impossible to get out of bed in the morning. I was a few minutes late to work the last few mornings because I did not want to leave my bed. When I was reading all the reviews, I heard that purple fluffs up their review page to make their mattress look better. After trying this mattress, I do not believe that is true. I believe that people genuinely love the product and want to share it with other people. I am not typically one to go out of my way to write a review, but this product is incredible so I felt compelled to do so. Obviously everyone is different so you may not have the same experience I have had, but if you are on the fence and looking for a great mattress, give Purple a try.
