My Green Mattress

My Green Mattress was founded with the mission to create an all-natural mattress that wouldn't harm those that are sensitive to off-gassing or other forms of toxicity in and around mattresses. From their family-owned factory, they offer a variety of Dunlop latex and pocket coil mattresses for both adults and children that are Greenguard, GOLS, and GOTS certified, which are some of the highest organic and safe certifications out there. Their mattresses get high marks from most customers and should be on your shortlist if you are looking at eco-friendly and all-natural options.

Naturepedic

Naturepedic has a reputation for crafting quality organic mattresses. They focus on generous layers of organic cotton, wool, and latex in their beds. With options for both children and adults, most customers have good things to say about their quality, materials used, and customer experience. Those rare complaints mentioned durability and high prices.

My Green Mattress's Owner Satisfaction

It's not always easy figuring out what mattresses score well on customer satisfaction versus others. Customers have great things to say about these mattresses overall according to our analysis. Although this doesn't mean they will work for you, these mattresses are worth a look over. Read on below for more information.

My Green Mattress's Supportiveness

These mattresses do well with support vs many other competitors. They offer a more resilient sleeping surface to align the spine and most folks feel comfortable due to this. Customers describe these mattresses as offering solid support on the surface layers and and talk about good performance and solid inital comfort.

Edge Support
Edge support is an important attribute for most sleepers and are looking for a supportive surface. These mattresses offer that supportive balance towards the sides.

Bowling Ball & Density Tests
Using a bowling ball on the surface of the mattress is a good way to measure support and firmness. These mattresses do well keeping things even and resilient throughout the mattress.

My Green Mattress's Durability

It is tough these days to find products that last a long time. Brands, for the most part, rather make recurring money than craft something that can never break. However, there are still great companies out there. These mattresses provide a very good element of durability to most sleepers. They should last up to a decade for many sleepers, though some folks who are larger may find they break down a short time before that.

Naturepedic's Owner Satisfaction

Most customers reviewed these mattresses highly and felt comfortable in their beds. Some, however, didn't feel share the same delight. If you are considering buying one of these mattresses, make sure to read on to make sure it will work for your body.

Naturepedic's Supportiveness

A supportive mattress is essential for waking up refreshed in the morning. These mattresses perform above average in terms of support. It is important for those that aren't getting the proper supportive night sleep they deserve right now. Most folks report that these mattresses are supportive initially.

Edge Support
Edge support is the amount of supportiveness there is on the edges against the center section of the mattress. These mattresses provide solid edge support overall, but some customers may experience more contouring along the edges.

Bowling Ball & Density Tests
The bowling ball and density tests are good measures of mattress firmness. It is also a great test to see if there is evenness in support or if there are peaks and valleys. Overall, these mattresses provide good even support initially.

Naturepedic's Durability

Durability is one of the most important factors for mattress shoppers, but because of the large amount of new companies making mattresses, it can be difficult for shoppers to find out. That being said, reviewers and customers respond similarly when you can see all of the reviews. These mattreses have good durability for the average customer. For those that are very active or of heavier builds, these mattresses may be somewhat less durable.

GREAT mattress at a TOTAL STEAL
I cannot rave about this mattress enough -- very comfortable, non-toxic materials I can feel good about (and I am very picky about everything I buy in terms of toxicity), and what a total STEAL! I had been searching for mattresses for ages, and I could not find anything I wanted for a price I could afford until I came across this one. No off-gassing, but there is a very faint, not-at-all-unpleasant, earthy smell to it. And it was delivered very fast, way before the promised time frame. Lastly, the mattress was not nearly as uncomfortably hard/firm as some of the reviews indicated. I actually wish I had not bought the expensive latex topper I already purchased elsewhere, because it really doesn't even need it. I was a little nervous about buying a mattress online, but I am SO happy with this purchase.

Incredible Bed at an incredible price
My wife is a Naturopathic Doctor and understands the importance of a natural mattress and insisted we buy one for my daughter when we moved her out of her crib. I was hesitant since these are so expensive, but she explained that sleeping on a mattress that is not natural means that her face is pressed up against chemicals and toxic off-gassing for an entire night. This was a huge concern so we searched high and low for a high quality natural mattress that would also provide her with a good night's sleep. We went to a local store that specialized in organic mattresses and could not find anything that felt good (they felt flimsy) and they were all so expensive. I decided to search online to see if I could find something and luckily I found the Echo Mattress.

We purchased the single sided Echo Mattress for my little girl and we absolutely LOVE it. It is super clean, no smells at all, and very comfortable. It came packaged rolled up and was super easy to bring upstairs and unroll onto her bed.

Now when I read my little girl bedtime stories I end up staying in bed with her a bit longer than I need to so I can enjoy her comfortable bed. I was actually enjoying my little girl's mattress better than my own so we decided to buy a King Size double sided version of this mattress for my own bed.

This is an incredible bed an a wonderful price and the customer service in this place is amazing too!

Really REALLY firm. Took some time to adjust.
When I started waking up with back pain on my 8 year old Beautyrest mattress, I knew it was time to get a replacement. I wanted a 'natural' mattress that was free of flame-retardants and off-gassing chemicals, but most of them were way out of my price range. I found this one on Amazon and read all the reviews. Something to note: at the time of this writing, there are currently 18 reviews with an average 4 1/2 star rating. However, half of those reviewers specifically say that they purchased this mattress for a young child so they are not reviewing it from an adult's comfort perspective. I'm going to tell you right now, this mattress is firm. Very firm. Another reviewer likened it to sleeping on a bed of rocks, which is not far off. I would say it's more like sleeping on a carpeted floor. When I first started sleeping on it, I was very disappointed--it was so uncomfortable. I should add that I have a 2 inch latex topper AND a featherbed on top of it, and it's still ridiculously firm. However, after sleeping on it for seven weeks, I have gotten used to it. I am no longer waking up with back pain and I'm not breathing in toxic chemicals. Taking into consideration price, convenience (free ship/rolled up), and natural components, I would say that I am happy with the purchase. Just know that you're going to have to put some sort of topper on this mattress--I can't imagine any adult being able to sleep on this with no cushion.

good value for the quality
The mattress arrived quickly and in good condition. We did not have any problem with the firmness, and thought it was comfortable support. My problem was with the mattress fibers/ stuffing. We let it air out for a week before putting in on the bed. Although my spouse did not notice any smell, the mattress did give me a stuffy nose every time I laid in it for about a month, even after changing out the mattress pad and sheets. This finally went away after a few weeks and I am able to enjoy the mattress now.

Amazing value for your money!
We were looking for a healthy alternative to our other mattress that wouldn't break the bank and would be better on our backs. We had looked at other organic mattress that were 6 times this cost so when I found this one I was estatic. This mattress has far exceeded our expectations. It is so comfortable and we don't wake up in the morning with terrible neck and back pain. Some people have complained about how hard it is, however we never experienced that. I do enjoy sleeping on the ground from time to time as it helps my back feel better so I am used to firm sleeping spaces. At first, when you open it and unroll it or does have a strong wool smell but it's nothing obnoxious and it does go away in a couple days. We have been sleeping on this mattress now for a couple months and have felt the improvement and I love knowing there's no off gassing and I sleep easier. I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a more budget friendly organic mattress!

Wanted to like it, but ultimately just uncomfortable even with toppers
I really, really wanted to like this mattress. We are very careful with the products we buy, to make sure everything is healthy and get the best for ourselves and our kids. I got this mattress in King for myself and husband, and 2 Twins for my kids. I knew it was going to be firm, but damn! It's just not comfortable. I wanted to like it, I really did- tried everything, spent more money on toppers than I ever imagined I would. I got a very fluffy lofty topper, it didn't help. I got a wool topper, still nothing. I had a firm before, but this mattress is TOO firm, I sleep on my side and have curves, it just puts pressure on my joints. Now I'm stuck and unhappy. The kids are light weight, and I got them toppers too for added comfort, but due to how they sleep- it seems to be ok for them. As for me, I'm wishing we didn't get rid of our memory foam mattress which was a lot more comfortable. We only got rid of it because we wanted to clear the house of toxins. I really, really miss that mattress. Can't afford another topper to try, or a new mattress at this time.

Three Stars
too firm for our taste

LOVE IT
What can I say, I LOVE this mattress ! It's firm without being hard.

AMAZING. This mattress came in a roll and so ...
AMAZING. This mattress came in a roll and so was really easy to maneuver onto the bed and then cut open. It is soo comfortable our daughter loves it.

I simply would not purchase another one like this.
I did not realize when I purchased this mattress that it is only 'one sided' but unfortunately it is and it is extremely hard. I simply would not purchase another one like this.

Sweet, non toxic dreams!!
I don't write reviews, but we bought this mattress for our daughter and she has slept so soundly on it! Knowing what we do about off gassing and what conventional mattresses do to our bodies, we knew we had to go with this company and ultimately this mattress! Thanks again for your stellar product!

Regarding Smell
I was a little concerned about all of the reports of the smell of the mattress. When we unpacked it I didn't smell anything but when I put my nose right against the mattress and inhaled I could smell a very tiny smell that my son said reminded him of Play doh. I think it's actually the smell of the plastic that the mattress came in. If I had not been looking for the smell I would not have noticed anything at all.

Seems like a safe and comfortable option
This was just delivered today so I will update later. The box was quite beat up, but the mattress inside was clean (wrapped in plastic). Upon opening and unrolling there was no chemical smell: one person said 'it smells like granola' and another person said 'it smells healthy'. Three adults (of very different sizes and weights) each lay down on it (separately lol) and each found it comfortable. It is medium firmness, not hard.

most comfortable bed in our house
most comfortable bed in our house. my father in law now kicks my son out of his bed when he visits

This is the most comfortable mattress I remember ever sleeping on
This is the most comfortable mattress I remember ever sleeping on. I was sure after reading previous reviews that I would need to purchase a topper to make it more comfortable, but I love it just the way it is. I sleep better than I have in years.

Great mattress
My spouse and I love this mattress. We've had it for about 5 months now and sleep very well on it. It's not too firm but firm enough that it won't give you back problems. It did smell a bit like wool or barn when we first got it but too the mattress' defense, I was in my first trimester of pregnancy so everything smelled to me. I aired it out in the sun for two days as the company advised and it really did help. I feel really good knowing that I sleep on a healthy mattress. I plan on buying another one.

Great mattress and excellent price!
We were looking for an organic mattress, and this one was an excellent price. That being the case, I was not expecting to find such high quality! I am very happy with this mattress! It is very firm, which I like because it has really helped my children's back issues to be sleeping on a firm mattress, yet it is still comfortable. It seems sturdy, well-made, and I have high hopes it will hold up well as my children grow up. It had no odors other than the cardboard and exterior packaging, arrived quickly and was packed all rolled-up- so it was very compact and relatively easy to transport, considering it is a mattress! I was so pleased with the purchase of the first mattress for my son that we have purchased a second for my littlest, who sleeps much better now that she is on this mattress, interestingly enough. I highly recommend this mattress and will be purchasing a third mattress after the baby on the way is big enough for a bed. Many thanks to the company for offering a quality product that is free from chemicals, well-made, and very reasonably priced.

Probably wouldn't buy again.
We purchased two of these mattresses in the twin size for our four year olds. They are not super comfortable but our children seem to like them. I probably wouldn't buy them again but time will tell how well they hold up.

Matress is firm
Matress comes rolled up and pops out like a roll of biscuits !!! Places a matress topper on it and it is money !!! Very happy with the purchase

Love it. I bought another after the first one ...
Love it. I bought another after the first one came in, very comfortable!

Five Stars
This mattress is better than I expected!

Chemical smell
t smells gross, with a really strong chemical smell that comes through the bedding even six months later. I am worried about having my child sleep on it and am considering throwing it out. I don't know what the smell is but it can't be anything good. I should have known that the price was too good to be true.

Great Mattress. Worth Every Penny
I needed a mattress that wouldn't make me swell up from all the chemicals on it. So many were expensive or didn't look very comfortable. I eventually took my chances on this one. I was concerned about the mention of smell because I am very sensitive to smells. I even called the company to ask if they could air the mattress out for a few days for me. I wasn't patient enough to wait the first time for them to answer because I needed a mattress soon but an unfortunate event turned into a fortunate result. When the bed arrived, FedEx had an accident with the package and the bed was no longer sealed inside the packaging. I called the company and sent them pictures. I called FedEx and they picked up the mattress. The mattress company remembered me and before getting the mattress back, they started airing a mattress out for the 3 days that other reviews mentioned. They sent the mattress to me before even getting the mattress back. BTW, the smell reminds me of Cheerios in case you wonder what it smells like. This mattress was just made right before it was sent to me so it is very understandable I could still smell a little of the materials. I have had it for less than a month and I sleep well. I don't wake up swollen. I am so happy about that. I have arthritis and I wake up stiff most of the time with the old mattress. I barely ever have problems with this new mattress. I got organic sheets too. The bed is firm, very firm. I like soft beds but the firmness doesn't bother me at all. The bed is wool and cotton. There isn't foam so there isn't much to make it fluffy but I figured if I had a problem, I would get a mattress topper. I don't need one though. I am quite comfy in this bed. This is a great mattress with great employees. I would highly recommend buying one.

The bed is perfect medium
The bed is perfect medium firm and very comfortable. It does not have any odors and delivery was fast. Highly recommend.

I switched to this mattress
I switched to this mattress after sleeping on a premium organic latex mattress from another company that cost nearly $3000 and sank terribly in the middle after only a handful of years of use. The Natural Escape feels extremely high-end in its materials and construction, and I adore the perfect medium-firm density. Such a reasonable price point for the unquestionable quality (not to mention the fab company philosophy!) I now own twoone for me and one for my toddler son.

Easy setup

Very comfortable without the sunk
Very comfortable without the sunk in feeling of memory foam, great edge support and I didn't feel hot like with some mattresses. Outstanding customer support that handled everything quickly and professionally.

This is the most comfortable
This is the most comfortable mattress Ive ever owned! Customer service was very helpful and nice, and it didnt smell at all when I unpacked it. Would highly recommend!

Great organic mattress
I’m chemically sensitive and have bought three of these mattresses in the last two years. I love them.

So far so good!
We’ve only been using it a week but I’m happy so far. My hip pain more or less went away after the first night!

Comfortable, natural mattress!
My family and I were in the market for a non-toxic mattress. We had been doing a lot of research because we have a new baby. We compared options and we came across Mygreen. We were skeptical about a mail ordered mattress. But, we have been pleasantly surprised by this wonderful mattress. It has a lower price point than other natural options. No adhesives. Non-toxic materials. It is very comfortable. It has very faint earthy smell to it. I will recommend this company to all of my mommy friends and family. We love it! Thank you for a healthy nights rest!!

Best mattress I have ever owned
This is the best mattress I have ever owned and has given me the best sleep of life over the past three years (and still going strong). My wife and I are about to buy our second for a guest room.

Love this mattress. I salute
Love this mattress. I salute with the middle of five, the other chemical bed mattress companies along with the satanic government agencies that mandate the use of chemical fire retardants. Because you never know when you might spontaneously combust into flames during your sleep. In any case, this mattress is amazing. And not being forced to sleep on cancer causing chemicals is well worth the price.

I researched organic mattresses for
I researched organic mattresses for weeks prior to purchase. My Green Mattress was the Best Buy based on price and comfort for combo sleepers like my husband and I. We also bought the topper for additional softness. We are very happy with purchase. Highly recommend.

Our whole family loves how
Our whole family loves how soft and firm this is, depending on your perspective! We even changed over from memory foam topping over our last bed, and found this mattress to be a downright good quality bed. I personally love the intention of the company and the cleaner product compared to other beds/companies! Would definitely buy again!

Nice mattress! We like that
Nice mattress! We like that the quality and safe materials this mattress is made of. There were no smells upon opening the box. The price isnt cheap, but we are happy with the product. It is firm, but our backs feel good!

We've been sleeping on this
We've been sleeping on this mattress for a couple of weeks or so. My spouse says it's "fine", and a great improvement over our previous, worn-out foam pad. I've had serious back troubles all my adult life, and am utterly delighted with it so far. I was waking up every morning with a lot of back pain, all gone now. I really hope this mattress continues to work this well!

My husband and I absolutely
My husband and I absolutely love this mattress! We love how it feels but most importantly we love the quality of it. We sleep better just knowing it does not contain harmful materials and its all natural. Great costumer service and fast delivery. Worth every penny!

Huge fan of this mattress!
Huge fan of this mattress! Easy to put on my frame and fits perfectly! I love how comfy it is!

LOVE this mattress
We love this mattress. I was very worried about buying a mattress for my 2 year old because in the past when I've bought traditional mattresses, the off-gassing took months (that was before I knew better about the horrible chemicals in mattresses). My son had a Naturepedic crib mattress and the transition to the Naturepedic twin mattress was a good choice. When the mattress was delivered we set it up in his room and he was able to use it that very night. No off-gassing horrible chemicals, no bad smells. What a relief! I'm very sensitive to chemical smells so I was happy to not have to deal with that here. We started off on the firm side of the mattress for my 2 year old, but it was very hard. He's been sleeping on the firm side for 1 month, but he keeps waking up at night. We also found that he was trying to put his entire body on his pillow, so we thought he would prefer a softer feel. A few days ago we flipped it over to the quilted side and that feels much better. We still need to get a waterproof pad for it, since the quilted side is not waterproof and he's not yet potty-trained. I would not hesitate to purchase this mattress again. It was very expensive, but if he uses it for 10 years, that's only $75/year. Well worth the peace of mind.

You won't regret this purchase.
I was nervous when I purchased this mattress because many reviews say it is too firm. Is it firm? Yes. Uncomfortable? No. My son went from a conventional plastic-y crib mattress to this mattress. This one is considerably softer and more comfortable. I lay with him at night as he falls asleep, and I am not uncomfortable on the mattress. I have had no complaints. In fact, we are thinking of buying one for each of our other children. This is a great mattress and is one of the most affordable non-toxic mattresses available. It is firm but not uncomfortable. I highly recommend!

If you loved the Naturepedic crib mattress, you'll love this one too!
This is a fantastic kid's mattress that made for a seamless transition from the Naturepedic crib mattress. If you're unfamiliar with these mattresses and are accustomed to soft, plush "grown-up" mattresses, you may find this too firm or too stark. However, it's perfect for a kid's growing body. There is no worry of off-gassing or chemical smells - it came right out of the box and onto the bed with no airing out time. The waterproof side is great, with a nice texture that is nothing like a plastic-y waterproof pad. This is a high-quality mattress made from high-quality materials that will leave everyone sleeping well at night!

Best choice in organic kid mattresses
Ordered this mattress after much research and debate. I am happy with my decision. The mattress was not too firm as other reviews remarked, and is actually almost softer than I wanted because I was hoping the firmer the mattress the longer it will last. It is certainly much softer than the 2-sided naturepedic crib mattress. I bought this for my son transitioning to a big boy bed and expect it to last through childhood. I believe it will and it is very comfortable. We are using the waterproof side which I LOVE. It protects the top and sides without having an awful crunchy, noisy sound or feeling. There was a slight natural odor as some commented in reviews but only if you put your nose to the bed and you can't smell it from the waterproof side. Certainly no strong odor or chemical smell. It is expensive, but compared to adult organic, non-toxic mattresses it is much cheaper and I felt was worth the investment for my son's health and my peace of mind.

Feels Lumpy
12/13/2015 Update: After receiving an email from Naturepedic that the mattress I purchased was defective, I ordered a new one. We've had the mattress for about five months now. No issues with lumpiness. However, I feel like the outer trim of the mattress is starting to loose it's shape/looking bent. I don't believe this is normal wear-and-tear because I've never had this issue with my other mattress. =( I was excited to purchase this matress for my toddler as her new big girl bed; however, I was disappointed with the product for a few reasons: 1) I grew up sleeping on very firm mattresses. I prefer them and enjoy them. Although firm, something about this mattress made it quite uncomfortable. It's just too firm. 2) The discomfort of the firm mattress could be that it feels lumpy. It seems like individual springs can be felt while laying on the bed and shifting positions. 3) The waterproof side of the matress seemed loud. The cover was not taught, so when I moved my arms across it, it was as if I was laying on vinyl plastic that can be heard when moving. I purchased a NP crib mattress and had no problems with its quality; however, the twin mattress was a big disappointment. If you have a recommendation for a quality organic mattress, please share.

Barely used and it is falling apart - EXTREMELY disappointing purchase
I never write reviews but I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this mattress. We've had it for just over a year now and we still have not transitioned my toddler to the bed so this mattress has only been slept on a handful of times by the occasional house guest. When we first received this mattress I noticed that it elevated in the center so it almost felt as if you were rolling down hill on either side of the mattress. I thought perhaps this was because it was new and that it would settle down over time but sadly it hasn't. Also the sides of the mattress are sagging. It's almost as if the side of the mattress totally collapses on itself when you sit on it. I flipped the mattress over to the non-potty training side and it weirdly lumpy. I wanted to love this mattress. I paid more for this mattress than I wanted to because I trusted the brand and I definitely wanted an organic mattress. But I'm sad to say that this mattress was not even close to what we were hoping for. We wanted a mattress our toddler could grow up on, now I'm going to have to buy him a new mattress before he even gets a chance to use it.

Expensive, but worth every penny!
Since infancy, my now 3 year-old daughter has slept on a Naturepedic crib mattress in her crib and toddler bed. So when she recently transitioned to a twin-sized "big girl" bed (Charleston Solid Hardwood Platform Bed Frame - Twin Size), Naturepedic was our first choice for a mattress that we knew would be free of chemical flame retardants. We opted for the 2-in-1 mattress instead of the single-sided one for $100 cheaper because we knew from experience (with the crib mattress) that it's 100-times easier to wipe up accidents from the waterproof fabric of the mattress itself, than to have to remove a separate mattress pad and throw it in the wash. Plus, many waterproof mattress pads are made of PVC/vinyl, a toxic plastic the emits phthalate fumes that you don't want your child inhaling in their sleep! The waterproof side of the Naturepedic mattress is made of food-grade polyethylene, which is non-toxic and doesn't give off any harmful fumes. Yes, the waterproof side of the mattress is somewhat firm, but not excessively so, and most importantly, my daughter has never complained about being uncomfortable. After all, she spent the first 3+ years of her life sleeping on an ultra-firm crib mattress, so she doesn't know any differently when it comes to sleeping surfaces. Plus, pediatricians recommend a firm mattress for younger kids, whose bones and skeletal structures are still developing. Once my daughter is older (and fully nighttime potty-trained!), we'll flip the mattress over and use the quilted side. This mattress was recently put to the test and passed with flying colors! A few weeks after we bought it, my daughter had an upset stomach in the middle of the night. She threw up a total of 4 times, soaking her pajamas and bed sheets, but the waterproof surface of this Naturepedic mattress completely withstood it all. Each time, all we needed to do was to wipe the surface of the mattress with Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Wipes, 70 Count, change the sheets and put her back to bed. We wouldn't have had enough mattress pads to cope with all the throw-ups that she had. In short, this mattress helped make a rough night a little less difficult for all of us. I highly recommend it. Grade: A

Good for Allergies; Hard Though
Switching to this mattress stopped an allergic reaction I was having to my memory foam mattress (all the chemicals!). So in that respect, 5 stars. But this mattress is very hard, so I had to buy a latex mattress topper to be able to sleep on it.

HARD
My 13 year old wanted a really firm mattress, so we bought him this one. He even wanted the firmer side up. That lasted a day. So we flipped it to the "less firm" side, which was still way too hard. The two sides are board v. Heavy blanket on board. We wound up buying him a 3" featherbed. I still find it too hard, but he likes it now, though, and finds it just right. The featherbed made all the difference.

Well made but extra firm
We purchased this mattress for our now 3 year-old son. I have read that sleeping on an extra firm mattress is good for growing bodies, but I must say that as a mother laying next to him at bedtime, it feels a bit uncomfortable. That being said, our son has never complained, and it has been almost 6 months since he started sleeping on it. Naturepedic has a good price for an organic mattress, so we will simply purchase an organic topper for comfort when he needs it.

Great idea. Not that comfortable.
I really like the idea of this bed and the fact that it doesn't have most of the nasty chemicals in it that other beds do. That said this is not the most comfortable bed. Its heavy and feels bouncy. My little boy doesn't seem to mind it, but it just isn't that comfortable of a bed.

uncomfortable
I hate to give a low rating to a company that makes a matress with little or no fire retardants, but, this mattress was very uncomfortable. It felt like an old crib matress. Even on the softer side of the mattress, you could feel every spring.

Five Stars
Great mattress for our 2 year old. No chemical smells, and nice cleanable surface.

This has been great for my daughter
This has been great for my daughter. Feels like a regular mattress. It has held up very well, despite my daughter jumping on it at least weekly, and sometimes with her friends (it is on the floor for safety reasons). I would give it 5 stars if it were cheaper....seemed a little bit more expensive than it needed to be.

Great item and seller!
This is the second time I have purchased this item and I am very happy with it. As described & well packaged. I would recommend this product and seller.

And sleep comfortably knowing my kids are not exposed to harmful chemicals
I have three of these that I have purchased over the years for my three kids. Outstanding quality and complete satisfaction. Never had to offgas it. And sleep comfortably knowing my kids are not exposed to harmful chemicals. This mattress is supported by the environmental working group.

Excellent. Item was purchased for 2 year old
Excellent. Item was purchased for 2 year old. Used on the floor (montessori inspired) with a low profile boxspring. Child sleeps well and I've even fell asleep on it. Very expensive but worth the cost. No odors or new mattress smell.

comfortable and quite dense so I imagine it will hold ...
The bed was purchased for my 3 year old granddaughter because my daughter felt it was important for her to have an organic mattress. We chose this one because it was mid-price and had one waterproof side. Also free shipping with Amazon prime! The bed seems to be very supportive, comfortable and quite dense so I imagine it will hold up well for many years.

Five Stars
great product!!

Great buy
Bought this for my 2 year old son. There is no chemical smell with this mattress which is 1 reason why I purchased. My daughters mattress from a regular mattress brand was purchased 3 years ago and still stinks like chemicals when I take the sheets and cover off. This mattress is also great with the waterproof side that actually works and is easy to clean. Comfortable and my son loves it

Good organic product.
Not for those with aches and pains, but good for kids! We have a twin and a full size of this brand and are very happy. We also bought real mattress protectors since the mattresses are expensive, but so worth it.

great mattress
Few people realize the dangerous chemicals in traditional mattresses. It may see like a huge expense to spring for the organic mattress, but it's well worth it knowing that your child is not inhaling toxins while s/he sleeps. As far as organic mattresses go, this one is extremely comfortable. The vendor, "Elephant Ears" I think it was called was excellent and offered free shipping, which saved me $150. This was a very good buy. My baby sleeps like a baby in it.

Five Stars
Excellent quality and finish. Perfect for toddler transitioning from naturepedic infant mattress.

Five Stars
Fits great for a 3 year old. No smell as others stated

Great Mattress
This mattress is great. We don't think it is at all hard as other reviewers have complained. If you want a super deep pillow top type mattress then this probably isn't the one for you, but for a high quality, comfortable, basic organic mattress this one fits perfectly.

Loyal Customer
Love Naturepedic! Wish they made a king size!!

Comfy, safe and reasonably priced
I bought these for my twins after they grew out of their cribs. I had also used Naturepedic mattresses in their cribs. These mattresses are comfortable and reasonably priced for organic, chemical free mattresses. I would always recommend this brand and will buy this brand for my bed when it's time to replace our current mattress.

Five Stars
Fabulous bed! Zero odor, soft Quilting, natural materials.

Great!
Great service, love these mattresses. Hopefully it lasts 20 years!

Four Stars
A little bit too hard on one side.

Hard as a rock
I bought two of these mattresses for my daughters (age 7 and 11) thinking that the the firmness shouldn't be an issue for bodies as light as they are. I love the fact that they are organic, and that they have a water proof side which is good for the earlier, bed-wetting ages. However, they are so hard that my daughters complain about them. I tried a thin topper, and that didn't work. I eventually bought a 3 inch organic foam topper for one of the mattresses and that did the trick for my older daughter. However, the cost worked out such that I would have been better off getting an organic foam mattress to start with.

Four Stars
Great mattress, a little on the firm side which is what I was looking for.

I feel safe, but man it's expensive!
I bought this mattress because it was chemical-free, and I feel really good about that. I thought it was hypoallergenic, but when I received it, noticed that it had side vents. When I called the company about this, they tried to tell me that dust mites stay on the top layer only, so they offered a mattress pad. I'm a physician, and I wasn't happy with that response. I had to buy an additional hypoallergenic cover. It's nice that one side is waterproof, and the other side cottony. I've had the mattress for about a year now for my two year old. It sagged a bit immediately, and the top layer is a bit loose. These are made on a one-by-one basis, and made to order, so I guess that's ok. I thought this would last him 'til high school, but now I'm not so sure. It hurts my back to sleep on it because it's rather firm. After a year, it seems to have an odd-rice-homey sort of smell. Not sure I would buy again because of the price. Maybe all natural/chemical free mattresses sag?! I gave it four stars instead of three because at the time of purchase, there were not a lot of options out there for safer mattresses.

Awesome organic mattress
This is our second Naturepedic twin mattress, and we've also purchased multiple crib mattresses. We always love them, and feel good about our kids burying their faces in this organic, harsh-chemical free mattress. I read through the reviews, but have to disagree that this mattress is too firm, at least, not for a child. I bought it for my preschooler, and little kids often use firmer mattresses. I've fallen asleep on it multiple times and think it's fine, and my kids sleep well on these. I love that one side is water-proof for now, and that we can flip it over for a softer side for when the kids are a bit older. I have no complaints at all. UPDATE: At age 6, my son did start to complain that his mattress was too hard. It was wonderful to be able to simply flip his mattress over from the water-proof side to the softer side and please him without having to buy a new mattress! I also have to add that Naturepedic stands behind their lifetime guarantee. After less than 6 months, a spring had somehow rotated itself sideways in our second of these mattresses and was poking to the side. We don't know why or how this happened, but we wrote to Naturepedic and sent them pictures, and they immediately sent us a new mattress. No charge, no hassle. Very, very pleased.

Five Stars
Great mattress.

Cheaper from Amazon than the company's own website!
It was pretty weird to buy a mattress online, but I had no luck finding a local store that sold organic (or just non-toxic) mattresses. I really wanted my son to have a mattress that wouldn't be harmful to his health. This one fits the bill, and it seems to be the least expensive option out there. The manufacturer's own website has it listed for $100 more than Amazon, plus they charge $75 shipping. I was pleased with Amazon's price and the free shipping (from Pennsylvania to California, no less!) The mattress is firm, but comfortable. My 3-year-old son has been sleeping just fine on it. I took a nap on it one day, and I noticed it was firmer than my own mattress.... but I slept just fine.

I really wanted to love this mattress
I really wanted to love this mattress. Organic was a priority for me and when reading the reviews it seemed perfect. Unfortunately, the mattress I received is hollow. There is absolutely no support in the middle of this mattress and if an adult was to lay on it, it caves dramatically in the center. I have no idea if my particular mattress is defective but I am definitely disappointed in the product.

Comfortable & Organic!
I did a lot of research on mattresses and the incidences of sids when my daughter was born, and ultimately went with an organic crib mattress. When it came time to getting her a big girl bed, I had a very hard time finding full organic mattresses. Not one store in my entire city sells them. So I turned online, and researched every brand I could find. I needed an organic mattress that was not based with latex, and so many of them are. I'm allergic to latex, and fear my daughter will eventually share that allergy. Naturepedic is the brand I continued to come back to, as the best option on the market. Expensive, yes, but there are others that are far more, and none that are less that are made of cotton and not latex. What made me hesitate the most in my purchase is the reviews that said the mattress was too firm. I looked into organic mattress toppers that could help with that, but even those were a small fortune. Finally, I decided to go with this mattress. So glad I did, excellent choice. It is NOT too firm or too hard, it's extremely comfortable. It's possible that they made changes since some of these reviews were posted, to make it less hard. I have a terrible back & hip, and this mattress is comfortable to me. My daughter absolutely melts into it, and sleeps wonderfully! It had zero smell when we opened it - no off gassing, no need to air it out at all. When reading reviews, read the newest ones first. Because I think changes were made to this mattress to make it even better. For us, it's a non-toxic, organic, comfortable, odorless option for a mattress. I really think this one is your best bet!

Great Quality
I was slightly worried about ordering this mattress after reading a couple of reviews stating it was rock hard. I went ahead and ordered it anyway because my daughter has chemical sensitivities, and this was the least expensive, safest option I could find for her. I am happy to report that this mattress, while firm, is indeed comfortable enough- I actually fell asleep while laying with my daughter at bedtime and had a very restful night. My back and hips also felt great when I woke. My daughter slept like a rock and didn't stir until morning. I also noticed that, while I am usually a mouth breather when I sleep, it was very easy for me to breathe through my nose last night. This could be due to the newness of the mattress and the absence of dust mites, but I think the lack of chemicals is probably a contributing factor (I usually start sneezing whenever I walk into a store that sells new furniture because of the off-gassing chemicals). My daughter's nose seemed to stay clear as well. This was a big expenditure for us, but I'm glad we did it because now we have peace of mind that our little girl has a healthy place to sleep until she reaches adulthood. When we can afford it, I'd love to get a Naturepedic for the master bedroom as well.

We used mattress for 6 months - and had to throw it in the garbage
We used mattress for 6 months - but it still had very strong and irritating smell. When we contacted naturepedic - we were told that nothing can be done. We cut the mattress and here is what we foun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvUF5LSzIJo Please watch before you buy!
