Level Sleep is an all-foam mattress that features proprietary TriSupport technology that supports the spine using zoned support. The shoulders and hips are relieved of pressure, while the spine is supported by firmer foam. This is ideal for side and back sleepers with back pain and those that are concerned about posture. With data from an independent single-blind medical sleep study, Level Sleep significantly helps lead to more undisturbed sleep.
Naturepedic makes a variety of mattresses for adults and children. Their popularity stems from being an organic mattress maker. What does organic mean in the mattress context? It means that they only use organic textiles (think cotton) and organic foams (think latex). This differentiator is a big plus for those that suffer from allergy sensitivities or have young children that do. You are going to expect to pay a premium for such materials.

These mattresses are competitive when it comes to durability. Most sleepers should feel confident that their mattresses should last over 7 years -- with only a few folks complaining about feel. If you are a larger person and concerned about durability, make sure to read the reviews before selecting.
I had a bad shot mattress. I replaced with the tri support and have slept much better from night one. The mid support area is a little to close to the head for my baby. I have a twin. My abdominal part of my body is a litttle longer than normal and my legs area little short. I would have bought the longer and wider one but don,t have thes space.View More Reviews
The TrSupport Mattress is great! We wake up without back pain. It's just the right firmness and it's really fun to sleep on; raise your head, raise your feet and use the wave to relax awhile before sleeping. Thanks to the technology team for the development of Level Sleep mattress bed. This mattress is made with high grade materials and will last a long time. We may go back and buy the mattress TriSupport Topper for days we want a change of pace to pamper ourselves. We recommend this bed to anyone who wants to Sleep Happy. Thank you.
I really love this mattress, it is very supportive in all the right places. The staff are very helpful.
For years I have had to put a wad of socks under the middle of my back to give me the support I needed to lay on my back. With this mattress I no longer need to do that. I also had issues laying on my left side putting pressure on my hip and making it feel out of joint the next day. With this mattress I have a lot less of that issue as well. I am very pleased with the purchase.
We started sleeping on our luxe mattress 2 weeks ago and couldn't be happier! We previously had a different brand foam style mattress that cost quite a bit more and we are much happier with the Level Sleep product! Thank you JJ and Zach for the awesome service!
We upgraded to a king after having a queen, and couldn’t be happier! This mattress provides amazing back support! I had just gotten shoulder surgery, and as a side sleeper needed something super comfortable for my back - no pain, and love may be converted to back sleeping!
I love this mattress aND the pillow. I feel so much better in the morning when I get up. My neck is happy, my bow back is ready for the day. Three different firmness on the mattress support the different part of the spine. And the design of the pillow fits so well with the mattress. I'm recommending this brand to all of my patients now. And Zach, the sale's rep. he was o thorough, kind, step by step and he answered every single question that I had. (I ask lots of questions... :) so thank you. and I will reach out to Zach sometime next week to sign up the health professionals program for the clinic as well.
Thank you very much for your donation to my sleep following the loss of my home in the Sonoma Fires. I am grateful for your charity. The mattress has been great to sleep on. it was very easy to “install”! thanks again Isa Jacoby firstname.lastname@example.org
LOVE LOVE LOVE this mattress!!! Bought this for a new home in Prescott Arizona and couldn't be more ecstatic!!! Going to buy toppers for all others beds!!!
I have a very sensitive back and I cannot believe that the first night I slept on this mattress I had the best night sleep. It’s seriously the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your gift of support both emotional and physically. We are rebuilding our lives after the fire. Having a safe, comforting place to sleep at night has made a huge difference in our healing. Your team took such great care, showed so much kindness, and the mattress has actually helped with a lot of back pain that we were both experiencing previously. Much gratitude! Happy Thanksgiving, we are grateful to you! Kalika and Sean
the mattress isn’t much softer than i expected - but my back ache has gone and we have a restful nights sleep
This is the best mattress I have ever slept on!! Having lost everything in the recent Sonoma County Wildfires, we are so appreciative that you were able to help us. Thank you!
We are one of the many fire victims that assisted in getting a mattress. I can't say enough how much of a relief it was to have one less thing to worry about. Zach was the team member who helped me with our transaction and made everything even that much easier. They are super responsive, personable, and legitimately care about you as a person. The mattress itself is great. Provides support and is just right in firmness. You can't feel someone getting out of bed or rolling over at night wich also allows for the best possible sleep. Having a lot of sleepless nights, this was a very pleasant surprise. THANK YOU LEVEL SLEEP and thank you Zach. Very grateful.
Level Sleep was an incredibly thoughtful and most generous company to donate an amazing mattress for our son after the Northern California fire. We will certainly pass on the wonderful spirit of this company as well as the amazing products they develop at this local company. Thanks Level Sleep! Liz Takano
We have had our Level Sleep mattress now for one week and so far so good. It did take some nights (3) to get used to it and find the "sweet spot" for greatest comfort, but since then, we have slept great and have had no back trouble whatsoever!
I have had back and neck issues for quite sometime. I had no idea what I was missing out on until I slept on the tri-support bed! I am a Northern California fire survivor and the amazingly generous team at Level Sleep Sonoma gifted me a bed. I am forever grateful and will never go back to a standard mattress!!
I love how the mattress supports different parts of the body.
This mattress and pillows are worth every penny. Have been have great night sleep ever since. Should have bought this month's ago. Thank you for everything.
Before we purchased our mattress we had a couple questions about the product so we contacted the company to get more information. They responded right away and answered all the questions that we had. The were super friendly and informative. We purchased the king size mattress and have absolutely fell in love with it. My husband has back issues and this mattress has helped him tremendously! I recommend this bed to anyone looking to get an amazing nights sleep! It is totally worth the investment!
The mattress makes me feel like I'm being cradled in a marshmellow cloud. The support is just right for my girly hips. Really, really comfortable. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
Took a week off and went camping. I was nervous about being away from my mattress, so I bought the Level Sleep Topper to go into the RV. My back never missed a beat. Pain didn't even show its dirty little face. Usually by day three in the camper mattress, it is difficult to get out of bed. This time, woke up just like I do at home.
I'm so grateful my chiropractor suggested this mattress. For anyone who suffers with fibromyalgia, it is an answer to prayer. I also have a herniated disk & OA. This mattress provides the different levels of firmness/softness where they are needed most & I couldn't be happier.
I found Level Sleep through a friend and then was welcomed into their cozy Sonoma home store to one on for style. While the mattress in the store was amazing and is what prompted my first purchase for my new place; it was not until 30 days of incredible sleep that I appreciated the beauty of the TriSupport Mattress and Level Sleep's innovative technology. The stress of moving paired with other life altering events left me quite sleepless, but there was something in the comfort of my Level Sleep mattress that helped me sleep like a baby. More than 120 days in, my mattress continues to provide healing and restful sleep as promised. I am a believer! Thank you.
Recently bought a Level Sleep mattress when it was time to upgrade and we love it. My husband, who is an airline pilot, is sleeping better than ever. Just wish we'd bought them for every room!
I am always trying each night to feel where my body is touching the mattress, and I've normally dozed off without figuring it out. It's so cloud-esque that you can't feel it pushing up against you, you just melt in and then are supported. Loving it!
I am a chiropractor and my patients love the Restore Pillow. They are having better nights sleep on it and it also helps with their neck pain. The mattress is also amazing as well. I highly recommend. Dr. Cobb, Fredericksburg TX
The mattress provides great support and allows for a refreshing night's sleep. It's only been a week but so far so good!
Love the new mattress. It does what you said it would do - support the spine in the midsection and softer places for shoulders and hips.
We were long overdue for a new mattress and are very happy we chose a Level Sleep mattress and pillows. It arrived in a box that was easy to open and allowed for simple set up. We appreciate the different levels of firmness and find our sleep is more restful and in the morning it is easier to get out of bed!
I noticed less tossing & turning the first night I slept on my TriSupport mattress. After a few more nights, I realized I wasn't snoring as much if at all! I like it's firmness and that I don't sink into it but rather sleep on top of it. It's comfortable sleeping on my stomach as well, however, I find I do not wake up on my stomach anymore because I'm quite comfortable sleeping on my back or side. I'm very happy with my new mattress!
Level Sleep products are literally brilliant. They have varying levels of firmness within ONE mattress/mattress pad to properly support your body in different areas no matter how you sleep. My boyfriend prefers a firm mattress and I prefer softer - great, right?! Our mattress was TOO firm for me so we got the Level Sleep mattress topper and both LOVE it. He and I both agree it's the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on hands down. Years ago, we had a tempurpedic mattress which I actually loved but it trapped in heat which the boyfriend did not love and it was still not quite firm enough for his liking. Level Sleep products do NOT trap in heat and provide the perfect firmness in all the right places. Before getting this topper, I was having neck & back pain which has since gone away since I've been sleeping on this. I could not recommend Level Sleep products more. Worth every damn penny. We spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping - give yourself the gift of the frickin best possible most comfortable night's sleep (and naps) ever.
We got the mattress a week ago and have enjoyed every night of sleep since. Wonderful support, especially in the lumbar region, and very nice on the shoulders for side sleeping. The one thing that surprised me was the lack of support while sitting on the edge of the mattress. Not a complaint, just unexpected and took a little getting use to. The ordering process was very simple and delivery was quick. Getting the bed out of the packaging was easy as well, and very cool watching the compressed mattress come to life. I would recommend the mattress and company to anyone looking for a new mattress.
I bought a good mattress that was just too firm with no give. The Level Sleep Topper performed just as I had hoped. It truly does live up to what is advertised!
Incredible experience. Company treats customers with courteous, professionalism and above all the understanding of each individual needs. The mattress topper I bought is of high quality and craftsmanship and arrived at my front door, free shipping. Quick delivery, and as promised. I would definitely recommend this company to my family and friends.l
Best mattress for the back I ever had.
I had just bought a Casper mattress before being presented with the level sleep concept. So I ordered a cover. Incredible results. While Casper was decent, I now have enjoyed the deepest uninterrupted sleep in years !!! I highly recommend this product.
We bought this mattress based off our chiropractors recommendation d and we absolutely love it.
I have a chronic lower back pain so I tried several other options before Level Sleep. And I can surely say that Level Sleep totally works for me. This is the first mattress which really relieves the lower back pain. I feel better even throughout the day. Thank you! I didn’t think this was even possible.
My mattress topper is wonderful although it took almost a week to adjust to it. My aches and pains are not as bad. Thank you for making a great product.
We love this mattress. I was very worried about buying a mattress for my 2 year old because in the past when I've bought traditional mattresses, the off-gassing took months (that was before I knew better about the horrible chemicals in mattresses). My son had a Naturepedic crib mattress and the transition to the Naturepedic twin mattress was a good choice. When the mattress was delivered we set it up in his room and he was able to use it that very night. No off-gassing horrible chemicals, no bad smells. What a relief! I'm very sensitive to chemical smells so I was happy to not have to deal with that here. We started off on the firm side of the mattress for my 2 year old, but it was very hard. He's been sleeping on the firm side for 1 month, but he keeps waking up at night. We also found that he was trying to put his entire body on his pillow, so we thought he would prefer a softer feel. A few days ago we flipped it over to the quilted side and that feels much better. We still need to get a waterproof pad for it, since the quilted side is not waterproof and he's not yet potty-trained. I would not hesitate to purchase this mattress again. It was very expensive, but if he uses it for 10 years, that's only $75/year. Well worth the peace of mind.View More Reviews
I was nervous when I purchased this mattress because many reviews say it is too firm. Is it firm? Yes. Uncomfortable? No. My son went from a conventional plastic-y crib mattress to this mattress. This one is considerably softer and more comfortable. I lay with him at night as he falls asleep, and I am not uncomfortable on the mattress. I have had no complaints. In fact, we are thinking of buying one for each of our other children. This is a great mattress and is one of the most affordable non-toxic mattresses available. It is firm but not uncomfortable. I highly recommend!
This is a fantastic kid's mattress that made for a seamless transition from the Naturepedic crib mattress. If you're unfamiliar with these mattresses and are accustomed to soft, plush "grown-up" mattresses, you may find this too firm or too stark. However, it's perfect for a kid's growing body. There is no worry of off-gassing or chemical smells - it came right out of the box and onto the bed with no airing out time. The waterproof side is great, with a nice texture that is nothing like a plastic-y waterproof pad. This is a high-quality mattress made from high-quality materials that will leave everyone sleeping well at night!
Ordered this mattress after much research and debate. I am happy with my decision. The mattress was not too firm as other reviews remarked, and is actually almost softer than I wanted because I was hoping the firmer the mattress the longer it will last. It is certainly much softer than the 2-sided naturepedic crib mattress. I bought this for my son transitioning to a big boy bed and expect it to last through childhood. I believe it will and it is very comfortable. We are using the waterproof side which I LOVE. It protects the top and sides without having an awful crunchy, noisy sound or feeling. There was a slight natural odor as some commented in reviews but only if you put your nose to the bed and you can't smell it from the waterproof side. Certainly no strong odor or chemical smell. It is expensive, but compared to adult organic, non-toxic mattresses it is much cheaper and I felt was worth the investment for my son's health and my peace of mind.
12/13/2015 Update: After receiving an email from Naturepedic that the mattress I purchased was defective, I ordered a new one. We've had the mattress for about five months now. No issues with lumpiness. However, I feel like the outer trim of the mattress is starting to loose it's shape/looking bent. I don't believe this is normal wear-and-tear because I've never had this issue with my other mattress. =( I was excited to purchase this matress for my toddler as her new big girl bed; however, I was disappointed with the product for a few reasons: 1) I grew up sleeping on very firm mattresses. I prefer them and enjoy them. Although firm, something about this mattress made it quite uncomfortable. It's just too firm. 2) The discomfort of the firm mattress could be that it feels lumpy. It seems like individual springs can be felt while laying on the bed and shifting positions. 3) The waterproof side of the matress seemed loud. The cover was not taught, so when I moved my arms across it, it was as if I was laying on vinyl plastic that can be heard when moving. I purchased a NP crib mattress and had no problems with its quality; however, the twin mattress was a big disappointment. If you have a recommendation for a quality organic mattress, please share.
I never write reviews but I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this mattress. We've had it for just over a year now and we still have not transitioned my toddler to the bed so this mattress has only been slept on a handful of times by the occasional house guest. When we first received this mattress I noticed that it elevated in the center so it almost felt as if you were rolling down hill on either side of the mattress. I thought perhaps this was because it was new and that it would settle down over time but sadly it hasn't. Also the sides of the mattress are sagging. It's almost as if the side of the mattress totally collapses on itself when you sit on it. I flipped the mattress over to the non-potty training side and it weirdly lumpy. I wanted to love this mattress. I paid more for this mattress than I wanted to because I trusted the brand and I definitely wanted an organic mattress. But I'm sad to say that this mattress was not even close to what we were hoping for. We wanted a mattress our toddler could grow up on, now I'm going to have to buy him a new mattress before he even gets a chance to use it.
Since infancy, my now 3 year-old daughter has slept on a Naturepedic crib mattress in her crib and toddler bed. So when she recently transitioned to a twin-sized "big girl" bed (Charleston Solid Hardwood Platform Bed Frame - Twin Size), Naturepedic was our first choice for a mattress that we knew would be free of chemical flame retardants. We opted for the 2-in-1 mattress instead of the single-sided one for $100 cheaper because we knew from experience (with the crib mattress) that it's 100-times easier to wipe up accidents from the waterproof fabric of the mattress itself, than to have to remove a separate mattress pad and throw it in the wash. Plus, many waterproof mattress pads are made of PVC/vinyl, a toxic plastic the emits phthalate fumes that you don't want your child inhaling in their sleep! The waterproof side of the Naturepedic mattress is made of food-grade polyethylene, which is non-toxic and doesn't give off any harmful fumes. Yes, the waterproof side of the mattress is somewhat firm, but not excessively so, and most importantly, my daughter has never complained about being uncomfortable. After all, she spent the first 3+ years of her life sleeping on an ultra-firm crib mattress, so she doesn't know any differently when it comes to sleeping surfaces. Plus, pediatricians recommend a firm mattress for younger kids, whose bones and skeletal structures are still developing. Once my daughter is older (and fully nighttime potty-trained!), we'll flip the mattress over and use the quilted side. This mattress was recently put to the test and passed with flying colors! A few weeks after we bought it, my daughter had an upset stomach in the middle of the night. She threw up a total of 4 times, soaking her pajamas and bed sheets, but the waterproof surface of this Naturepedic mattress completely withstood it all. Each time, all we needed to do was to wipe the surface of the mattress with Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Wipes, 70 Count, change the sheets and put her back to bed. We wouldn't have had enough mattress pads to cope with all the throw-ups that she had. In short, this mattress helped make a rough night a little less difficult for all of us. I highly recommend it. Grade: A
Switching to this mattress stopped an allergic reaction I was having to my memory foam mattress (all the chemicals!). So in that respect, 5 stars. But this mattress is very hard, so I had to buy a latex mattress topper to be able to sleep on it.
My 13 year old wanted a really firm mattress, so we bought him this one. He even wanted the firmer side up. That lasted a day. So we flipped it to the "less firm" side, which was still way too hard. The two sides are board v. Heavy blanket on board. We wound up buying him a 3" featherbed. I still find it too hard, but he likes it now, though, and finds it just right. The featherbed made all the difference.
We purchased this mattress for our now 3 year-old son. I have read that sleeping on an extra firm mattress is good for growing bodies, but I must say that as a mother laying next to him at bedtime, it feels a bit uncomfortable. That being said, our son has never complained, and it has been almost 6 months since he started sleeping on it. Naturepedic has a good price for an organic mattress, so we will simply purchase an organic topper for comfort when he needs it.
I really like the idea of this bed and the fact that it doesn't have most of the nasty chemicals in it that other beds do. That said this is not the most comfortable bed. Its heavy and feels bouncy. My little boy doesn't seem to mind it, but it just isn't that comfortable of a bed.
I hate to give a low rating to a company that makes a matress with little or no fire retardants, but, this mattress was very uncomfortable. It felt like an old crib matress. Even on the softer side of the mattress, you could feel every spring.
Great mattress for our 2 year old. No chemical smells, and nice cleanable surface.
This has been great for my daughter. Feels like a regular mattress. It has held up very well, despite my daughter jumping on it at least weekly, and sometimes with her friends (it is on the floor for safety reasons). I would give it 5 stars if it were cheaper....seemed a little bit more expensive than it needed to be.
This is the second time I have purchased this item and I am very happy with it. As described & well packaged. I would recommend this product and seller.
I have three of these that I have purchased over the years for my three kids. Outstanding quality and complete satisfaction. Never had to offgas it. And sleep comfortably knowing my kids are not exposed to harmful chemicals. This mattress is supported by the environmental working group.
Excellent. Item was purchased for 2 year old. Used on the floor (montessori inspired) with a low profile boxspring. Child sleeps well and I've even fell asleep on it. Very expensive but worth the cost. No odors or new mattress smell.
The bed was purchased for my 3 year old granddaughter because my daughter felt it was important for her to have an organic mattress. We chose this one because it was mid-price and had one waterproof side. Also free shipping with Amazon prime! The bed seems to be very supportive, comfortable and quite dense so I imagine it will hold up well for many years.
Bought this for my 2 year old son. There is no chemical smell with this mattress which is 1 reason why I purchased. My daughters mattress from a regular mattress brand was purchased 3 years ago and still stinks like chemicals when I take the sheets and cover off. This mattress is also great with the waterproof side that actually works and is easy to clean. Comfortable and my son loves it
Not for those with aches and pains, but good for kids! We have a twin and a full size of this brand and are very happy. We also bought real mattress protectors since the mattresses are expensive, but so worth it.
Few people realize the dangerous chemicals in traditional mattresses. It may see like a huge expense to spring for the organic mattress, but it's well worth it knowing that your child is not inhaling toxins while s/he sleeps. As far as organic mattresses go, this one is extremely comfortable. The vendor, "Elephant Ears" I think it was called was excellent and offered free shipping, which saved me $150. This was a very good buy. My baby sleeps like a baby in it.
Excellent quality and finish. Perfect for toddler transitioning from naturepedic infant mattress.
Fits great for a 3 year old. No smell as others stated
This mattress is great. We don't think it is at all hard as other reviewers have complained. If you want a super deep pillow top type mattress then this probably isn't the one for you, but for a high quality, comfortable, basic organic mattress this one fits perfectly.
Love Naturepedic! Wish they made a king size!!
I bought these for my twins after they grew out of their cribs. I had also used Naturepedic mattresses in their cribs. These mattresses are comfortable and reasonably priced for organic, chemical free mattresses. I would always recommend this brand and will buy this brand for my bed when it's time to replace our current mattress.
Fabulous bed! Zero odor, soft Quilting, natural materials.
Great service, love these mattresses. Hopefully it lasts 20 years!
A little bit too hard on one side.
I bought two of these mattresses for my daughters (age 7 and 11) thinking that the the firmness shouldn't be an issue for bodies as light as they are. I love the fact that they are organic, and that they have a water proof side which is good for the earlier, bed-wetting ages. However, they are so hard that my daughters complain about them. I tried a thin topper, and that didn't work. I eventually bought a 3 inch organic foam topper for one of the mattresses and that did the trick for my older daughter. However, the cost worked out such that I would have been better off getting an organic foam mattress to start with.
Great mattress, a little on the firm side which is what I was looking for.
I bought this mattress because it was chemical-free, and I feel really good about that. I thought it was hypoallergenic, but when I received it, noticed that it had side vents. When I called the company about this, they tried to tell me that dust mites stay on the top layer only, so they offered a mattress pad. I'm a physician, and I wasn't happy with that response. I had to buy an additional hypoallergenic cover. It's nice that one side is waterproof, and the other side cottony. I've had the mattress for about a year now for my two year old. It sagged a bit immediately, and the top layer is a bit loose. These are made on a one-by-one basis, and made to order, so I guess that's ok. I thought this would last him 'til high school, but now I'm not so sure. It hurts my back to sleep on it because it's rather firm. After a year, it seems to have an odd-rice-homey sort of smell. Not sure I would buy again because of the price. Maybe all natural/chemical free mattresses sag?! I gave it four stars instead of three because at the time of purchase, there were not a lot of options out there for safer mattresses.
This is our second Naturepedic twin mattress, and we've also purchased multiple crib mattresses. We always love them, and feel good about our kids burying their faces in this organic, harsh-chemical free mattress. I read through the reviews, but have to disagree that this mattress is too firm, at least, not for a child. I bought it for my preschooler, and little kids often use firmer mattresses. I've fallen asleep on it multiple times and think it's fine, and my kids sleep well on these. I love that one side is water-proof for now, and that we can flip it over for a softer side for when the kids are a bit older. I have no complaints at all. UPDATE: At age 6, my son did start to complain that his mattress was too hard. It was wonderful to be able to simply flip his mattress over from the water-proof side to the softer side and please him without having to buy a new mattress! I also have to add that Naturepedic stands behind their lifetime guarantee. After less than 6 months, a spring had somehow rotated itself sideways in our second of these mattresses and was poking to the side. We don't know why or how this happened, but we wrote to Naturepedic and sent them pictures, and they immediately sent us a new mattress. No charge, no hassle. Very, very pleased.
It was pretty weird to buy a mattress online, but I had no luck finding a local store that sold organic (or just non-toxic) mattresses. I really wanted my son to have a mattress that wouldn't be harmful to his health. This one fits the bill, and it seems to be the least expensive option out there. The manufacturer's own website has it listed for $100 more than Amazon, plus they charge $75 shipping. I was pleased with Amazon's price and the free shipping (from Pennsylvania to California, no less!) The mattress is firm, but comfortable. My 3-year-old son has been sleeping just fine on it. I took a nap on it one day, and I noticed it was firmer than my own mattress.... but I slept just fine.
I really wanted to love this mattress. Organic was a priority for me and when reading the reviews it seemed perfect. Unfortunately, the mattress I received is hollow. There is absolutely no support in the middle of this mattress and if an adult was to lay on it, it caves dramatically in the center. I have no idea if my particular mattress is defective but I am definitely disappointed in the product.
I did a lot of research on mattresses and the incidences of sids when my daughter was born, and ultimately went with an organic crib mattress. When it came time to getting her a big girl bed, I had a very hard time finding full organic mattresses. Not one store in my entire city sells them. So I turned online, and researched every brand I could find. I needed an organic mattress that was not based with latex, and so many of them are. I'm allergic to latex, and fear my daughter will eventually share that allergy. Naturepedic is the brand I continued to come back to, as the best option on the market. Expensive, yes, but there are others that are far more, and none that are less that are made of cotton and not latex. What made me hesitate the most in my purchase is the reviews that said the mattress was too firm. I looked into organic mattress toppers that could help with that, but even those were a small fortune. Finally, I decided to go with this mattress. So glad I did, excellent choice. It is NOT too firm or too hard, it's extremely comfortable. It's possible that they made changes since some of these reviews were posted, to make it less hard. I have a terrible back & hip, and this mattress is comfortable to me. My daughter absolutely melts into it, and sleeps wonderfully! It had zero smell when we opened it - no off gassing, no need to air it out at all. When reading reviews, read the newest ones first. Because I think changes were made to this mattress to make it even better. For us, it's a non-toxic, organic, comfortable, odorless option for a mattress. I really think this one is your best bet!
I was slightly worried about ordering this mattress after reading a couple of reviews stating it was rock hard. I went ahead and ordered it anyway because my daughter has chemical sensitivities, and this was the least expensive, safest option I could find for her. I am happy to report that this mattress, while firm, is indeed comfortable enough- I actually fell asleep while laying with my daughter at bedtime and had a very restful night. My back and hips also felt great when I woke. My daughter slept like a rock and didn't stir until morning. I also noticed that, while I am usually a mouth breather when I sleep, it was very easy for me to breathe through my nose last night. This could be due to the newness of the mattress and the absence of dust mites, but I think the lack of chemicals is probably a contributing factor (I usually start sneezing whenever I walk into a store that sells new furniture because of the off-gassing chemicals). My daughter's nose seemed to stay clear as well. This was a big expenditure for us, but I'm glad we did it because now we have peace of mind that our little girl has a healthy place to sleep until she reaches adulthood. When we can afford it, I'd love to get a Naturepedic for the master bedroom as well.
