Englander is a brand of Southerland mattress and was founded in the 1800s. They focus predominantly on foam, latex, and hybrid mattresses with an eco-friendly flare. They are committed to lower carbon-footprint practices and standards. Overall, they piggyback off of many of Southerland's mattress production facilities across the United States and are predominantly found in Southern and Midwest US mattress retail stores. Their difference is found in their selection of cooling foams and eco-friendly latex.
White Dove mattress was one of the original innovative hybrid mattress brands in the US. They still focus on hybrid mattresses, but also have added latex foam mattresses to their lineup as well. Selling their mattresses predominantly in PA, OH, IN, and surrounding states, they have stuck to their roots while creating mattresses that are up to the times. Most customers find White Dove mattresses to be high end and quality made, but some folks had issues with durability.

Customer reviews can be difficult to get at and even harder to understand -- especially with companies coming in and out of the market quickly. Sleepers, sadly, don't always feel comfortable from these mattresses. There are still customers that are very satisfied, but many others who are not. Learn more below to understand the specifics.
In terms of support, customers give these mattresses mixed reviews. Some feel like the mattresses provide good comfort, but others didn't feel great after a night's sleep. If you are heavier than average, these mattresses may not work 100% for your body.
Edge support is a key item for anyone that likes to sit on the side of their mattress. Some may find that the edge support in these mattresses is not as robust as others.
Mattresses that are very durable are great, but difficult to find. These mattresses are reported by customers to be not as durable as others. That being said, some may provide comfort for years and years, while other mattresses may become uncomfortable faster. If you have a wider frame than average, make sure to do some more research because you may be at a higher risk for durability issues.
Customers had mixed emotions about these mattresses. Many folks describe feeling comfortable on their new mattresses and sleeping better than before, but there were others that didn't like their experience. To ensure what one of these mattresses will work for you, take a look below for more information.
A supportive mattress is the secret to having better spine health. If you aren't supported by your bed, you likely aren't getting the kind of sleep that you need to be getting. Overall, most customers resonate with the supportiveness from these mattresses, but some had issues with them.
Most customers find these mattresses to have good edge support, which is beneficial for those that like rolling over towards the side of the mattress at night. Those that have bigger frames may still experience some sagging along the edges.
Mattresses don't give sleepers the same kind of lasting comfort they used to. If you are looking for a mattress that will last over 15 years, it is hard thing to find. That said, finding a long-lasting mattress can mean hundreds of dollars in your pocket. Sadly, these mattresses have mixed ratings when it comes to durability. Some customers report no problems, but others have issues with the durability over a shorter horizon than average.
I bought a latex Englander pillow top bed about 6 years ago, in the store it was super comfortable but after I got it (Queen size) and had it for a few months it started sagging. I only weigh 143 and it shouldn't do that. Within a few years it was awful. When it became horrible, I called them and spoke with the customer service team, I sent pictures and documented how bad it was. The bed I had was discontinued, and they actually replaced it with a top of the line pillow top mattress--it was their best model, and probably about an $1800 mattress. I was thrilled, now 6 months into it--I have to turn the thing constantly to avoid the sagging. It is almost as bad as the other one and I completely hate it. I bought a new bed this week. I really wanted it to work out but these are just not great. I can say their customer service was excellent, but I would never recommend these. They aren't cheap and they are so uncomfortable--I can't imagine 2 people on one that weigh more than me.View More Reviews
We spent $1150+ on an E-gel, cool gel technology Queen, and after about 8 months it started to sag. Englander sent someone over to check the bed and we were told it was 'expected' wear and tear - I'm furious - less than 2 years old - absolutely awful and I am doing everything in my power to spread the word everywhere on the net about this company and their expensive, sagging mattress. :( My $400 mattress was more comfortable after 6 years than this one. I feel bitter about the amount of money and lack of accountability for poor quality, poor durability and crap customer service. Anyone know how to launch a class-action law suit against these clowns?
I bought an Englander mattress in December 1996. It was a double-pillow top queen sized mattress with the matching box spring. It is only now that I am thinking of replacing it with a new mattress. I am thinking about a memory foam mattress. This model was the best one that the store carried. For the entire time that I have had the mattress, it was wonderful and very comfortable. The only reason that I am want to replace it, it because of its age. It always had a protective cover on it.
Just bought a englander capri. Queen size for $396 after tax. So far so good
Had a Queen pillowtop for a month now. Absolutely the best Mattress I've ever owned. I saved hundreds of dollars and would recommend The Mattress Outlet and Englander Mattress to anyone that wants a great night's sleep. You do not need to spend thousands to be comfortable. I am completely satisfied with the product.
We bought a englander back in 05 and have been happy every night since. I feel like I am sleeping on a cloud. Not sure the model but it was about $1200
I bought an Englander Ultimate Visco Pillowtop, expensive, the store went out of business and I am stuck with the worst mattress in the world, it is only two and a half years old and has two holes one on each side and a hump in the middle, pleople learn from my mistake do not buy this mattress.
Do not buy an Englander mattress. The biggest ripoff in my life of 56 years is the Englander mattress. Only 6 months ago we bought one for over $800.00. I have been sleeping in a hole for 3 months now. Tomorrow i will cut it in half and transport the halves to the wholesaler where I will glue them to the sidewalk in front of the store.
Bought this mattress three months ago and it has a giant hole directly in the middle of the mattress. I am not a big person and can't understand how normal sleep would ever cause something like this to happen. I am so disappointed and all I want is a new mattress, but the store said that the sale was final. I was jipped out of hundreds of dollars.
Six months in and I can't even sleep in this bed because the bedding itself has entirely degraded. I am not a sensitive sleeper and would gladly sleep on a couch any day, but this bed has turned into a painful metal mess. I can't do this to myself.
Bought this bad a year ago and have been in constant pain since 2 weeks in. The shoddy crafstmanship is unbelievable. Buyer beware!!!
I purchased my mattress by chance from an store that was going out of business in 2007. To this day everyone that comes to visit brags about the restful night they get. Nothing but snores from the guest bedroom. I brought my second one, replacing my mattress with an Englander, now I have two. I hope my second one last as long as my first one.
I purchased a king sized mattress and box spring January 2014 - from Beds Beds Beds in Crestwood, The mattress is an Englander Mattress OAKVILLE FM is what is on the tag. I emailed Englander Bedding twice and got no answer - I will try calling the company directly later today. The mattress is lumpy my spouse and I weight about 137-150 each so there is no valid reason why the mattress should be lumpy. I don't know if this complaint will do anything but I quite unhappy with the mattress (the box spring appears ok). I keep hearing Englander mattress stands by their product and so far no response. The mattress before we see that it is lumpy in 3 spots is a firm mattress and we both got a good nights sleep.
Mattress has been sagging for 3-4 years now, and it is only 6 years old! I only weigh 135 pounds! Wake up stiff and sore. Just bought a big name competitor's mattress/box springs and guess what -- all my aches and stiffness went away.
Best mattres i ever slept on. Great service fron the representative. I would recomend this mattress to everyoneView More Reviews
White Dove warranty promises are false. After less than 1-year the bed I purchased from them has sagged so bad I won't sleep on it (the bed has not been moved and I'm not overweight, so no excuses). I emailed them explaining the situation, submitted all the required pictures and documentation with no luck. This has all been while I was pregnant and NEEDED a comfortable bed to sleep in - instead of sleeping on the couch or cheap twin bed in our guest room. I have been strung along for 5 months, waiting for a new bed (now they quit responding to my emails and phone calls), in misery. Don't buy a White Dove, King Koil, or Comfort Solutions mattress (they're owned by the same company and don't stand behind their word).
We bought our first White Dove queen mattress about 12 to 13 years ago. It was reasonably priced, and the quality and comfort were excellent. I wanted a firm mattress and got one that held up well.
After a few years, we needed to replace a mattress in another bedroom and chose another White Dove. We've had it for 3 or 4 years now and it also has been superb. I have a pretty bad back, but these mattresses really fill the bill for me. They stay supportive and don't seem to degrade as quickly as orhers I've owned in the past.
A few years ago, we bought a third White Dove for a spare bedroom. Again- well made, great quality, and no complaints. Like all the other mattresses, it too came from Wayside Furniture in Akron.
Finally, after some reading on when one should replace a mattress, I learned that after eight years is a good time. Since our original White Dove queen mattress was going on 14 years old, and my back is giving me a bit more trouble as I age, we decided to shop around a bit and get a new one with a bit more firmness.
Not surprisingly, a White Dove was still the best choice, and again we purchased it from Wayside over Memorial Day weekend. For comparison's sake, I looked at Mattress Firm first, and tgeir products/prices didn't even come close to the White Dove models at Wayside. They had a great mattress sale going on, and according to Consumer Reports, Memorial Day weekend is an excellent time to find good prices on mattresses.
For one, I really like that White Dove mattresses are made nearby in Cleveland, Ohio. More than that, every one I've had has been a pleasure to sleep on and has held up beautifully. In fact, when the delivery guys came in to take out my original White Dove and saw it, they asked what was wrong with it. It still looked new to them, despite its 13 years of use!
As long as White Dove still builds their mattresses in the USA, I will never buy anything else.
The absolute best mattress that I've ever slept on!
Superior product made by true craftsman! I have an auto immune condition that causes me lots of pain and makes a good nights sleep difficult for me. My parents have bought White Dove mattresses for years, so I decided to go get my own. I bought a Lincoln Highway Plush from the Cambridge Collection. It's amazing. So comfortable! Even for my achy bones :)
