Using customer reviews as a guide can be great for discerning shoppers. Customers, unfortunately, don't always enjoy these mattresses. Some are happy with the feel and comfort of their mattress, but others complain about how it feels for them. There are more details below to study if you are considering buying.
Support isn't one and the same as firmness. Deep support means the mattress aligns the back and spine. Sadly, not everyone thinks these mattresses are truly supportive. Most folks find the mattress to be supportive at the beginning, but some felt like they weren't supported as time went on.
For those that like sitting on the side of their beds, edge support is key. Overall, these mattresses do a good job at first with support at the edge, but some found that it wasn't as supportive as they'd like
We all want a mattress that lasts 10 years or more, and when our mattress is something that instead gives us pain over a short term, this is terrible. That said, finding a durable mattress nowadays is really hard. With more choices than ever, many companies are sacrificing quality to make a quick dollar. With these mattresses specifically, some reviewers had discomfort over a short period. That doesn't necessarily mean that durability issues will happen to everyone, but make sure to read up more before buying.
Customer reviews can be difficult to get at and even harder to understand -- especially with all of the noise in the industry. Customers, unfortunately, don't always feel great about these mattresses. There are still customers that are very satisfied, but many others who are not. Learn more below to understand the specifics.
In terms of having lasting supportiveness, these mattresses have mixed signals from customers. Some customers feel comfortable and well supported, but others had problems getting comfortable. If you are above average in weight, you should do added research to make sure you find a match for you.
Edge support is an essential item for those that like to lay close the edge of their mattress without dipping or rolling off. Some may not find these mattresses to be evenly supportive along the sides and may dip more than usual.
Having a mattress that lasts is one of the most important factors to sleepers. We all wish that our mattress would be just as comfortable a decade later as it was the first day. However, sadly these mattresses are not rated very well by sleepers on longevity and some have experienced issues after only a short time. If you are looking to use one of these full time, read over the reviews, warranty, and return policies to make sure that you are safe in your purchase.
Previously visited MW stores in Chantilly and Leesburg with less than pleasant experience in both locations thanks to pushy sales guys. But the Fairfax store was a very different experience. The new manager was cordial and not pushy. He offered to give us information on the different types of mattresses and what he opined about each, without pushing us to buy anything. He even stayed 30 minutes beyond closing time with patience even though we had not expressed any desire to purchase same day. In the end we decided to go ahead and purchase Cheswick Manor Brentwood Extra firm mattress and he offered us an excellent deal. Delivery and setup was also great, prompt as promised and bed was setup very quickly & efficiently. The mattress is awesome, no complaints. Pleasure doing business here!View More Reviews
We recently decided to replace our mattress set and went to a few mattress stores in the local area. As soon as we entered this Mattress Warehouse, we were greeted by the store manager, Tia, who was very friendly and professional. She recommended we use the electronic technology in the store to determine which mattress would be a good fit for us. After reviewing our data, she recommended a few products, and we chose the Cheswick Manor Wellington, which as we learned is a Mattress Warehouse brand and several hundred dollars cheaper than bigger brand names. She was very patient as we tried the mattress for several minutes, and we were very pleased with the comfort of the bed. We also met the store owner, who was very helpful and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. The mattress and base were delivered on time and the delivery personnel were very careful and professional. We recommend anyone looking for a stress-free mattress shopping experience to check out this store!
Poor service all the way across the board. My husband and I have been shopping around for an upgrade to our current queen size mattress. Our first visit to Mattress Warehouse, we were greeted by pleasant customer service. We did the sleep test to figure out what mattresses were best suited for us. We found one bed that we liked and decided to go with it. The brand was Cheswick Manor and the bed was the Abbington. Upon delivery, the appearance was different. When we laid on it, the mattress was firm when we ordered a soft. The appearance was alarming, and I called to report the wrong bed was delivered. Mattress Warehouse explained that they did change the appearance and I was told it was the correct bed. My husband drove to the store to set up a date when the bed could be picked up, because it was still not the bed we purchased. The store said they could not help us and gave us a phone number to customer service. They did explain that it would cost us $200 handling fee when the bed was picked up, but we have to wait 30 days. Overall, this has been a terrible experience and I would not recommend Mattress Warehouse or the Company Cheswick Manor. In the beginning, we would have been ok with just switching out the wrong bed for the right one. Unfortunately, with the staff in the store playing the blame game and blowing us off, we prefer to NOT do business with them. As soon as I receive an update on my bed, I will update here.
This review is no reflection on the store and especially Barbara our very professional sales person. I am only writing a review because there were none on line for Cheswick Manor mattresses. I googled and googled but there were no reviews. My gut instinct was not to purchase it but the store offered another $200 off. We purchased the Wellington (total $999) in a queen and I am very disappointed. It feels so hard as if I am lying on an ironing board. I believe it is the foundation that squeaks when my husband gets in and out of bed that wakes me up. It is so cheaply made, you can feel the cardboard with your hand under the fabric. They sent a second foundation out but they are both the same-cheap.
My mattress lasted about six months before the padding became unusable
It had been a ridiculously many years since I bought a new mattress and I was so excited to finally ditch my decrepit bed and get something brand-new and with much newer support technology. Especially since I've been having back pain for as long as I can remember now, and I figured that a new mattress would probably help! The first night was wonderful, and my back did seem to feel better! LITERALLY after the first day--or two at most--I started noticing my body impression. Which seemed odd. Well, it got worse from there. The support erodes after mere DAYS. This thing is supposed to last for a decade? HOW? The warranty says that they'll replace if it sags two inches or more. Well that's not what's happening, and the pillow top fluffs up (i.e. if you lay a yard stick across it, you don’t see much dip), but the problem is that there's no support once you put any weight there! It is a disaster and I've wasted hundreds of dollars on this thing.
Purchased one of these mattresses a few months ago and there are body impressions in it already that never spring back. Neither of us are heavy either -- I am only 135 lbs and my partner only ways 129 lbs. It is absolutely ridiculous.View More Reviews
I don't know what they did to the floor model to make it feel good, but the one that came delivery is terrible. Within three days, there is sagging on my side and I feel like I am going to roll off the bed at night. This is absolutely the worst thing for my vertigo that I could ever imagine.
Giving two stars because luckily I don't have the bed anymore. It was a terrible bed. Started to sag within a week. Not sure what they put in this thing, but it isn't enough of something. Just really strange after liking it so much. Now, I am going to just order something online. I can't deal with any more shady mattress salespeople after this whole ordeal.
Been sleeping on one an Eastman House bed since the 90s. I don't complain.
Really not durable at all. Sagging within days -- my husband has decided to sleep on the couch at night since neither one of us can sleep as we are tossing and turning night in and night out. I can't believe the sales people get away with selling this garbage.
If you like a soft bed, this may be the bed for you, but I thought the floor model was firmer than this one that I have. It is just not firm at all and hurts my back at night. Not for me.
I've bought 2 Eastman House mattresses over the years and I absolutely love them. The thing that I love the most is that I can sleep on a plush bed that stays the same firmness over the years.
I got one of the Eastman House pillow top models and for the first 3 months, it has been divine. But I am noticing some sagging start to occur where I sleep. I am going to rotate the bed and I hope that helps. It does concern me that the good times are over.
It has been 6 months and already my pillow top has visible indents in it from where I sleep. I am a little overweight -- 200lbs 6'0'' but that should be ok, right?
I wanted a pillow top for the extra comfort, but I didn't expect that I would be sinking into the mattress at night. It is a little too soft to my liking.
This is an superb mattress. My husband and I sleep soundly through the night and we love the feel of the mattress. No complaints from us.
finally a great night sleep! and a affordable price. after spending $8500.00 on a supposedly best set, we were miserable, too heavy to move, uncomfortable bed. I was doubtful, we only had rotten bed 18 months, I was sleeping on the sofa. looking to buy new sofa, I saw sale and we figured what do we have to loose? quarter of the price and have slept like a baby every nite since ! thank you!
We bought an Eastman House mattress in January of 2017. I need a firm mattress, and believe paying for quality is important in something you’ll spend 6+ hours a night in. It always $1500 but It’s supposed to have a 10 year warranty and we even bought the recommended over-priced cover for an additional $150 to help keep the mattress “under warranty”. In late October 2018 I started having back issues, that required frequent visits to a chiropractor and most recently to a med...ical doctor to get some relief. We’ve taken pictures, filled out forms and waited 3 weeks to hear back from the “Mattress Rep” because the Furniture Store we bought it from has to receive credit back from Eastman to help us. We were told nothing is wrong with the mattress, it’s “just settling”, and to rotate it. We’ve rotated this mattress monthly since we’ve owned it. The side support has completely failed, but they focus on “dips” in the mattress. So it looks like unless the local furniture store wants to keep a repeat customer happy, I’m out the $1600+ and will have to pay for a new mattress. DON’T buy from this company...their warranty coverage is a joke.
We bought a queen & king bed last year. We spent more on them than we’ve ever spent on beds thinking we were buying high quality. My husband has back issues and his back hurts worse and the impression where he sleeps never goes back to normal. I don’t have back issues but I have a difficult time getting comfortable. We’re very disappointed with our beds as they aren’t comfortable and don’t hold their shape.
Still sleeping on an Eastman House mattress that was bought in ‘96, but it is nearing the end. Wore very well, silk on one side, wool on the other. Durable and comfortable. Would love to purchase it again, but not available in mid-west. Heard company was sold year after our purchase, and quality isn’t the same. Finding a replacement isn’t easy. Move seems to be online shopping, but I need to lie on a bed and have a good idea of what I am getting. Would buy this bed again in an instant!
I wanted a firm mattress & the mattress store recommended this mattress. Worst purchase I ever made. Within 5 months it has permanent indentations & major sagging. It’s only me & I’m not large. Didn’t know till mattress was delivered that Eastman says to rotate mattress every 3 wks for first 6 months. Wish I knew that before I purchased it but I reluctantly, faithfully did this. It did not make a difference. My back is killing me & can’t purchase another mattress right now because of the corona virus. Wish I hadn’t thrown out the previous one.
