Amore offers four different mattresses, from a budget-friendly flippable foam version to two different hybrid hybrid options with amazing customization options for the price, and lastly a high end all-natural latex mattress version. They offer a variety of exciting features like split firmness, copper infused fabric, and the option for luxury foams. With these options and solid customer satisfaction, we think there is a lot going for Amore's mattresses.
Naturepedic makes a variety of mattresses for adults and children. Their popularity stems from being an organic mattress maker. What does organic mean in the mattress context? It means that they only use organic textiles (think cotton) and organic foams (think latex). This differentiator is a big plus for those that suffer from allergy sensitivities or have young children that do. You are going to expect to pay a premium for such materials.
Based on our aggregated reviews and our scoring method, we recommend Amore in this match up!

It's hard trying to figure out if a mattress will be comfortable for your unique body by just reading the online reviews. From those that screen reviews and pay for reputation management, brands put a lot of attention into protecting their profits. However, with our evaluation of current customer data, these mattresses are rated as having some of the highest marks.
Exciting customers with their support is well-received by customers of these mattresses. These mattresses help with spine alignment while not sagging or providing discomfort.
If you sit on the side of the mattress in the morning, this mattress gives you even comfort along the sides, which means it is great for folks that struggle with mobility or like lounging near the side.
Bowling Ball & Density Tests
These mattresses excel at even support on the reviewer tests. Although the surface layer will allow for a comfortable sleeping surface, the bottom layers will provide deep support for the back, hips, and shoulders.
Owning a mattress for years and years is a difficult proposition for mattress companies. They would have to invest in better materials -- from coils and foam, and make more intensive product tests. Also, longevity is at times hard to measure because of the differences in how folks use their mattress. That said, customers react very well to these mattresses based on durability and based on materials and craftsmanship, should last 7 - 12 years for most everyone.

Reading online reviews is a wonderful way to find out if a specific product will work for you. These mattresses are rated very well by customers overall, but there are some that didn't feel as positively. Look over the reviews and the mattress specifics below to see if these mattresses will work for your body.
Having a mattress that supports you will help with spine alignment and comfort over the long term. These mattresses do a good job providing support for most folks, but there are some rare complaints.
Edge support is an absolute must for folks looking for the best mattresses and for those that sleep close to the side of their mattress. These mattresses should do well with edge support, but some heavier folks may experience some dips by the edge.
Bowling Ball & Density Tests
Using a bowling ball to measure the firmness and support of a mattress is a common practice. These mattresses do a great job at providing support for most customers, but some customers may have issues with even support long term.
We all want a comfortable surface to sleep on that will last forever, but that is sometimes easier said than done. That being said, data on materials and customer feedback can be a good guide. These mattresses are durable and will should last longer than average for most sleepers, but some folks who have larger builds may find that they don't last as long.
Did a lot of research online before purchasing from Amore. My wife and I did a lot shopping around before buying our new bedroom furniture. We were going up from a queen to either a Ca King or a King size. We found that some sets came in a Ca King size some only came in King. We finally found one we both liked and ordered it. Well to try to make a long story not so long. I thought we ordered a Ca King bed room set so I ordered a Ca king mattress. Nope. I called and talked to Todd at Amore and even though the mattress had already shipped he was able retrieve the the first one and ship out the right size. Great customer service! As far as the mattress itself, I've been sleeping on it for about 2 weeks and I love. Would highly recommend.View More Reviews
Prior to buying our beds, I had some questions. Your staff answered them promptly and satisfactorily.
The beds arrived promptly and packed well. They opened successfully and are what we expected.
I was nervous about taking the plunge into the online mattress world, but when I came across Amore Beds website, I felt a bit more confident. After searching several other competitor sites and reviews, I just kept coming back to Amore and I'm glad I did.
The mattress arrived sooner than we expected. The set up was very easy, it is heavy, but my husband & I were able to set it up by ourselves. Its been very comfortable.
My experience with Amore was great.
Did everything online, easy order process and quick delivery
Nice product and good quality. Friendly customer service.
Customer service went above and beyond to help me out. They returned phone calls very promptly. They even called me back when I didn't even leave a message. That meant a lot to me and I am referring them to all my friends.
Lots of great features that we were looking for. I'm on the lighter side and I don't sink in as far as I would like on this quilted wool cover, but I'm willing to deal with it for the piece of mind knowing that there's no chemical firesock. This mattress was odor-free which is a huge plus because I tend to be very sensitive to off-gassing.
We bought the king Medium, and after 5 months, we still love it. So incredibly comfortable. so far this is a fantastic mattress and would buy again.
Easy and informative ordering process.
My wife and I purchased two Twin XL mattresses. She was not happy with hers. It was a firm, but she actually wanted a firmer mattress. Mine was a Medium, and I have been very satisfied with it. I can actually say I have never seen such HIGH STANDARDS in customer service. The support group, especially Todd, was extremely responsive and understanding. The credit for the bed we delivered to Salvation Army was issued the same day we sent the receipt.
We made a list of all the luxury features that were important to us and we just kept coming back to Amore. We're glad we got it and it has met our high expectations. Customer service was very knowledgeable and helpful.
I ordered my bed on a Friday evening and it arrived the next Thursday. I ordered a queen sized in a firm. I have had it for about three weeks now and it has been great. I like a firm bed and this does the trick. This is my first foam mattress and I was pretty apprehensive about making this purchase. I received two pillows with my mattress as well, they are very comfortable too.
So far so good! Very comfortable.
Amo mucho my amore bed!! Provides the perfect amount of support and comfort
I have a dozen vacation condos with all different e-mattresses and this Amore Beds mattress is the one that has more guests inquiring about it than any of the others. I will be using Amore from now on and they are even better quality than the more expensive or better known brands.
King mattress is great and it got delivered as promised.
we are very happy with it
Fast shipping, and easy to set up. It took a couple of weeks for me to adjust to the bed, because the one I had been sleeping on was not very good. So I was not used to the firmness and support. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Love it!
Bed is great. Delivery was great. All in all a great experience.
Amorebed's very good and comfortable. It's convenient for removing..!
I have had my Amore Bed since July and absolutely love it. I have been sleeping so well. My only regret was that I didn't wait a couple of weeks to buy the bed. If I had waited I could have also received the two pillows that I can only assume are incredibly comfortable since the bed feels like what I can only imagine sleeping on a cloud feels like.
It is a wonderful bed. It took no time at all to get used to it and I sleep better and my wife loves it and sleeps better also. After 15 years on a sleep number bed this has been a great experience.
Great mattress and great customer service. I almost returned the mattress after 2 weeks, but they convinced me to tough it out a little longer and I'm glad I did. I wasn't expecting anything to change, but I guess they know a little bit about these things and how your body and mattress need to adjust to each other. I was ready to throw it to the curb, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Thanks Amore!
I order the bed and fell in love the first day! The customer service staff is very responsive and reasonable. My wife and I believe these beds are such great value. We are so glad we discovered Amore Beds.
My husband and I are very different sizes, the mattresses I liked best left him with back pain in the morning, while the mattresses he preferred were so firm that I couldn't fall asleep on them. After consulting with my husband we decided to go with the spit option. Getting to choose our own firmness's changed the game. My favorite feature is the cooling. My husband ran so hot at night and since our Amore he hasn't woken up sweating. Finally, not only am I sleeping better but we are waking up refreshed and without stiff necks.
Everything was real easy, the ordering, setting up and financing. Great unstressful experience. The mattress is so comfortable, I am finally getting some quality sleep. Thanks to you all.
The bed is very, very comfortable! There was no smell when we opened it up, and it was easy to roll out and set up. I highly recommend this (medium firmness) mattress.
Warning, I find myself going to bed early and staying in bed late. This Amore Beds mattress is soooo comfortable, I can't wait to get home and hop back in it. Leaves me well rested and full of energy! I'm not quite sure how they do it, but this thing does not retain heat either. It's not cold to the touch, but it somehow sleeps cooler than anything else that I've tried out.
My soft mattress is very comfortable when sleeping on my back or side (I don't sleep on my stomach). The mattress arrived quickly and was very easy to set up by myself.
I received the mattress with a puncture, contacted CS and the best solution they offered was to send me a patch. I don't understand how they pretent me to pay for a new mattress only to put a patch on it because it came with a puncture. The answer was that it was "cosmetic".
Very comfortable . It has sleeping a pleasure again . I would buy again .
My wife and I really enjoy our new mattress. I waited until our 100 days were up to post a review. I have a Med-firm mattress, as Amore allowed me to customize my mattress differently. The four inches of poly-foam is in two, two inch layers, so instead of soft, medium and firm, I asked if I could have a Medium over the Firm and they said yes. its Just Awesome. I'm 6'2, 265, and it supports me fantastically. I believe the Medium mattress would have as well, but I typically like a firmer mattress, but My wife likes more of a medium mattress, so the Med-firm. All mattresses soften a little anyhow, so its a great customization for us. I had an Aviya mattress and it was not comfortable at all for side-sleeping as My shoulders hurt a lot. Not with Amore mattress, no more pain or discomfort. Our lower backs and my shoulders sink in just enough to provide the support and comfort we need. So far to date, No indentations or sag, still like brand new. Our mattress is the nicest mattress I slept on. These mattress are very nicely made and we're super happy with Amore Mattresses.
Love my Amore mattress ! I sleep well and wake up feeling refreshed! Thank you Amore ! Fast , friendly service , and a great quality mattress and the price is very reasonable ! Plus I received two free pillows ! Thanks again , and yes I will definitely recommend the Amore mattress !
I bought an Amore Beds medium, queen mattress with the copper infused cover. It took a few weeks to get use to but I sleep so well on it now that I stopped taking my Ambien. I feel just as well rested and I now have more energy for my morning workouts.
Super comfortable bed. Very happy!
I did a lot of investigating before deciding to purchase my Amore mattress. I have suffered for years with insomnia and was accustomed to waking up every hour and not needing an alarm clock. After sleeping on my Amore bed, i sleep like a baby all the way through the night and now need an alarm clock to get up!! Amore mattress is the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept on!! I look forward to sleep every day and couldn't be happier. I was a bit of a pain to work with, butTodd and everyone at Amore were so awesome to work with!! I Love, Love, Love my Amore mattress!! Thank you!!
I can say that I have slept more deeply and soundly and longer than I have in years. The mattress is a medium. I am debating if I should have gotten the medium firm. This mattress is much more supportive and forgiving than my old Temperpedic, but I can't argue with superior night's sleep.
Hi ,just wanna share my experience before finding My Amore bed i tried 3 other beds whom all claimed to be the best ,to help with cooling while you sleep, help with painful joints etc, all 3 were returned. i was ready to give up when a friend was going on and on about how great her mattress was and how great she was sleeping ,so of course i asked what kind she had, thats when i was introduced to Amore ,i decided to try my frds out before ordering one. i knew the minute i laid on her Amore it was diffrent then the ones i had tried., then she told me the price ,i thought she was joking!! i went home and IMMEDIATELY ordered myself one. It arrived in a timley matter ,customer service was amazing. i truly cant say enough about this mattress. im planning to order both my teenage children one!!
I dutifully rotated and flipped this mattress every 3 weeks or so, the mattress I bought from Amore stayed comfortable for the first few months but after that I started waking up in pain. The wear spots are like canals. Now, 11 months after this uncomfortable purchase I am buying another bed elsewhere. If you want an honest assessment of this mattress, ask people who have had it for longer than a few months. I wish I had.
We love this mattress. I was very worried about buying a mattress for my 2 year old because in the past when I've bought traditional mattresses, the off-gassing took months (that was before I knew better about the horrible chemicals in mattresses). My son had a Naturepedic crib mattress and the transition to the Naturepedic twin mattress was a good choice. When the mattress was delivered we set it up in his room and he was able to use it that very night. No off-gassing horrible chemicals, no bad smells. What a relief! I'm very sensitive to chemical smells so I was happy to not have to deal with that here. We started off on the firm side of the mattress for my 2 year old, but it was very hard. He's been sleeping on the firm side for 1 month, but he keeps waking up at night. We also found that he was trying to put his entire body on his pillow, so we thought he would prefer a softer feel. A few days ago we flipped it over to the quilted side and that feels much better. We still need to get a waterproof pad for it, since the quilted side is not waterproof and he's not yet potty-trained. I would not hesitate to purchase this mattress again. It was very expensive, but if he uses it for 10 years, that's only $75/year. Well worth the peace of mind.View More Reviews
I was nervous when I purchased this mattress because many reviews say it is too firm. Is it firm? Yes. Uncomfortable? No. My son went from a conventional plastic-y crib mattress to this mattress. This one is considerably softer and more comfortable. I lay with him at night as he falls asleep, and I am not uncomfortable on the mattress. I have had no complaints. In fact, we are thinking of buying one for each of our other children. This is a great mattress and is one of the most affordable non-toxic mattresses available. It is firm but not uncomfortable. I highly recommend!
This is a fantastic kid's mattress that made for a seamless transition from the Naturepedic crib mattress. If you're unfamiliar with these mattresses and are accustomed to soft, plush "grown-up" mattresses, you may find this too firm or too stark. However, it's perfect for a kid's growing body. There is no worry of off-gassing or chemical smells - it came right out of the box and onto the bed with no airing out time. The waterproof side is great, with a nice texture that is nothing like a plastic-y waterproof pad. This is a high-quality mattress made from high-quality materials that will leave everyone sleeping well at night!
Ordered this mattress after much research and debate. I am happy with my decision. The mattress was not too firm as other reviews remarked, and is actually almost softer than I wanted because I was hoping the firmer the mattress the longer it will last. It is certainly much softer than the 2-sided naturepedic crib mattress. I bought this for my son transitioning to a big boy bed and expect it to last through childhood. I believe it will and it is very comfortable. We are using the waterproof side which I LOVE. It protects the top and sides without having an awful crunchy, noisy sound or feeling. There was a slight natural odor as some commented in reviews but only if you put your nose to the bed and you can't smell it from the waterproof side. Certainly no strong odor or chemical smell. It is expensive, but compared to adult organic, non-toxic mattresses it is much cheaper and I felt was worth the investment for my son's health and my peace of mind.
12/13/2015 Update: After receiving an email from Naturepedic that the mattress I purchased was defective, I ordered a new one. We've had the mattress for about five months now. No issues with lumpiness. However, I feel like the outer trim of the mattress is starting to loose it's shape/looking bent. I don't believe this is normal wear-and-tear because I've never had this issue with my other mattress. =( I was excited to purchase this matress for my toddler as her new big girl bed; however, I was disappointed with the product for a few reasons: 1) I grew up sleeping on very firm mattresses. I prefer them and enjoy them. Although firm, something about this mattress made it quite uncomfortable. It's just too firm. 2) The discomfort of the firm mattress could be that it feels lumpy. It seems like individual springs can be felt while laying on the bed and shifting positions. 3) The waterproof side of the matress seemed loud. The cover was not taught, so when I moved my arms across it, it was as if I was laying on vinyl plastic that can be heard when moving. I purchased a NP crib mattress and had no problems with its quality; however, the twin mattress was a big disappointment. If you have a recommendation for a quality organic mattress, please share.
I never write reviews but I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this mattress. We've had it for just over a year now and we still have not transitioned my toddler to the bed so this mattress has only been slept on a handful of times by the occasional house guest. When we first received this mattress I noticed that it elevated in the center so it almost felt as if you were rolling down hill on either side of the mattress. I thought perhaps this was because it was new and that it would settle down over time but sadly it hasn't. Also the sides of the mattress are sagging. It's almost as if the side of the mattress totally collapses on itself when you sit on it. I flipped the mattress over to the non-potty training side and it weirdly lumpy. I wanted to love this mattress. I paid more for this mattress than I wanted to because I trusted the brand and I definitely wanted an organic mattress. But I'm sad to say that this mattress was not even close to what we were hoping for. We wanted a mattress our toddler could grow up on, now I'm going to have to buy him a new mattress before he even gets a chance to use it.
Since infancy, my now 3 year-old daughter has slept on a Naturepedic crib mattress in her crib and toddler bed. So when she recently transitioned to a twin-sized "big girl" bed (Charleston Solid Hardwood Platform Bed Frame - Twin Size), Naturepedic was our first choice for a mattress that we knew would be free of chemical flame retardants. We opted for the 2-in-1 mattress instead of the single-sided one for $100 cheaper because we knew from experience (with the crib mattress) that it's 100-times easier to wipe up accidents from the waterproof fabric of the mattress itself, than to have to remove a separate mattress pad and throw it in the wash. Plus, many waterproof mattress pads are made of PVC/vinyl, a toxic plastic the emits phthalate fumes that you don't want your child inhaling in their sleep! The waterproof side of the Naturepedic mattress is made of food-grade polyethylene, which is non-toxic and doesn't give off any harmful fumes. Yes, the waterproof side of the mattress is somewhat firm, but not excessively so, and most importantly, my daughter has never complained about being uncomfortable. After all, she spent the first 3+ years of her life sleeping on an ultra-firm crib mattress, so she doesn't know any differently when it comes to sleeping surfaces. Plus, pediatricians recommend a firm mattress for younger kids, whose bones and skeletal structures are still developing. Once my daughter is older (and fully nighttime potty-trained!), we'll flip the mattress over and use the quilted side. This mattress was recently put to the test and passed with flying colors! A few weeks after we bought it, my daughter had an upset stomach in the middle of the night. She threw up a total of 4 times, soaking her pajamas and bed sheets, but the waterproof surface of this Naturepedic mattress completely withstood it all. Each time, all we needed to do was to wipe the surface of the mattress with Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Wipes, 70 Count, change the sheets and put her back to bed. We wouldn't have had enough mattress pads to cope with all the throw-ups that she had. In short, this mattress helped make a rough night a little less difficult for all of us. I highly recommend it. Grade: A
Switching to this mattress stopped an allergic reaction I was having to my memory foam mattress (all the chemicals!). So in that respect, 5 stars. But this mattress is very hard, so I had to buy a latex mattress topper to be able to sleep on it.
My 13 year old wanted a really firm mattress, so we bought him this one. He even wanted the firmer side up. That lasted a day. So we flipped it to the "less firm" side, which was still way too hard. The two sides are board v. Heavy blanket on board. We wound up buying him a 3" featherbed. I still find it too hard, but he likes it now, though, and finds it just right. The featherbed made all the difference.
We purchased this mattress for our now 3 year-old son. I have read that sleeping on an extra firm mattress is good for growing bodies, but I must say that as a mother laying next to him at bedtime, it feels a bit uncomfortable. That being said, our son has never complained, and it has been almost 6 months since he started sleeping on it. Naturepedic has a good price for an organic mattress, so we will simply purchase an organic topper for comfort when he needs it.
I really like the idea of this bed and the fact that it doesn't have most of the nasty chemicals in it that other beds do. That said this is not the most comfortable bed. Its heavy and feels bouncy. My little boy doesn't seem to mind it, but it just isn't that comfortable of a bed.
I hate to give a low rating to a company that makes a matress with little or no fire retardants, but, this mattress was very uncomfortable. It felt like an old crib matress. Even on the softer side of the mattress, you could feel every spring.
Great mattress for our 2 year old. No chemical smells, and nice cleanable surface.
This has been great for my daughter. Feels like a regular mattress. It has held up very well, despite my daughter jumping on it at least weekly, and sometimes with her friends (it is on the floor for safety reasons). I would give it 5 stars if it were cheaper....seemed a little bit more expensive than it needed to be.
This is the second time I have purchased this item and I am very happy with it. As described & well packaged. I would recommend this product and seller.
I have three of these that I have purchased over the years for my three kids. Outstanding quality and complete satisfaction. Never had to offgas it. And sleep comfortably knowing my kids are not exposed to harmful chemicals. This mattress is supported by the environmental working group.
Excellent. Item was purchased for 2 year old. Used on the floor (montessori inspired) with a low profile boxspring. Child sleeps well and I've even fell asleep on it. Very expensive but worth the cost. No odors or new mattress smell.
The bed was purchased for my 3 year old granddaughter because my daughter felt it was important for her to have an organic mattress. We chose this one because it was mid-price and had one waterproof side. Also free shipping with Amazon prime! The bed seems to be very supportive, comfortable and quite dense so I imagine it will hold up well for many years.
Bought this for my 2 year old son. There is no chemical smell with this mattress which is 1 reason why I purchased. My daughters mattress from a regular mattress brand was purchased 3 years ago and still stinks like chemicals when I take the sheets and cover off. This mattress is also great with the waterproof side that actually works and is easy to clean. Comfortable and my son loves it
Not for those with aches and pains, but good for kids! We have a twin and a full size of this brand and are very happy. We also bought real mattress protectors since the mattresses are expensive, but so worth it.
Few people realize the dangerous chemicals in traditional mattresses. It may see like a huge expense to spring for the organic mattress, but it's well worth it knowing that your child is not inhaling toxins while s/he sleeps. As far as organic mattresses go, this one is extremely comfortable. The vendor, "Elephant Ears" I think it was called was excellent and offered free shipping, which saved me $150. This was a very good buy. My baby sleeps like a baby in it.
Excellent quality and finish. Perfect for toddler transitioning from naturepedic infant mattress.
Fits great for a 3 year old. No smell as others stated
This mattress is great. We don't think it is at all hard as other reviewers have complained. If you want a super deep pillow top type mattress then this probably isn't the one for you, but for a high quality, comfortable, basic organic mattress this one fits perfectly.
Love Naturepedic! Wish they made a king size!!
I bought these for my twins after they grew out of their cribs. I had also used Naturepedic mattresses in their cribs. These mattresses are comfortable and reasonably priced for organic, chemical free mattresses. I would always recommend this brand and will buy this brand for my bed when it's time to replace our current mattress.
Fabulous bed! Zero odor, soft Quilting, natural materials.
Great service, love these mattresses. Hopefully it lasts 20 years!
A little bit too hard on one side.
I bought two of these mattresses for my daughters (age 7 and 11) thinking that the the firmness shouldn't be an issue for bodies as light as they are. I love the fact that they are organic, and that they have a water proof side which is good for the earlier, bed-wetting ages. However, they are so hard that my daughters complain about them. I tried a thin topper, and that didn't work. I eventually bought a 3 inch organic foam topper for one of the mattresses and that did the trick for my older daughter. However, the cost worked out such that I would have been better off getting an organic foam mattress to start with.
Great mattress, a little on the firm side which is what I was looking for.
I bought this mattress because it was chemical-free, and I feel really good about that. I thought it was hypoallergenic, but when I received it, noticed that it had side vents. When I called the company about this, they tried to tell me that dust mites stay on the top layer only, so they offered a mattress pad. I'm a physician, and I wasn't happy with that response. I had to buy an additional hypoallergenic cover. It's nice that one side is waterproof, and the other side cottony. I've had the mattress for about a year now for my two year old. It sagged a bit immediately, and the top layer is a bit loose. These are made on a one-by-one basis, and made to order, so I guess that's ok. I thought this would last him 'til high school, but now I'm not so sure. It hurts my back to sleep on it because it's rather firm. After a year, it seems to have an odd-rice-homey sort of smell. Not sure I would buy again because of the price. Maybe all natural/chemical free mattresses sag?! I gave it four stars instead of three because at the time of purchase, there were not a lot of options out there for safer mattresses.
This is our second Naturepedic twin mattress, and we've also purchased multiple crib mattresses. We always love them, and feel good about our kids burying their faces in this organic, harsh-chemical free mattress. I read through the reviews, but have to disagree that this mattress is too firm, at least, not for a child. I bought it for my preschooler, and little kids often use firmer mattresses. I've fallen asleep on it multiple times and think it's fine, and my kids sleep well on these. I love that one side is water-proof for now, and that we can flip it over for a softer side for when the kids are a bit older. I have no complaints at all. UPDATE: At age 6, my son did start to complain that his mattress was too hard. It was wonderful to be able to simply flip his mattress over from the water-proof side to the softer side and please him without having to buy a new mattress! I also have to add that Naturepedic stands behind their lifetime guarantee. After less than 6 months, a spring had somehow rotated itself sideways in our second of these mattresses and was poking to the side. We don't know why or how this happened, but we wrote to Naturepedic and sent them pictures, and they immediately sent us a new mattress. No charge, no hassle. Very, very pleased.
It was pretty weird to buy a mattress online, but I had no luck finding a local store that sold organic (or just non-toxic) mattresses. I really wanted my son to have a mattress that wouldn't be harmful to his health. This one fits the bill, and it seems to be the least expensive option out there. The manufacturer's own website has it listed for $100 more than Amazon, plus they charge $75 shipping. I was pleased with Amazon's price and the free shipping (from Pennsylvania to California, no less!) The mattress is firm, but comfortable. My 3-year-old son has been sleeping just fine on it. I took a nap on it one day, and I noticed it was firmer than my own mattress.... but I slept just fine.
I really wanted to love this mattress. Organic was a priority for me and when reading the reviews it seemed perfect. Unfortunately, the mattress I received is hollow. There is absolutely no support in the middle of this mattress and if an adult was to lay on it, it caves dramatically in the center. I have no idea if my particular mattress is defective but I am definitely disappointed in the product.
I did a lot of research on mattresses and the incidences of sids when my daughter was born, and ultimately went with an organic crib mattress. When it came time to getting her a big girl bed, I had a very hard time finding full organic mattresses. Not one store in my entire city sells them. So I turned online, and researched every brand I could find. I needed an organic mattress that was not based with latex, and so many of them are. I'm allergic to latex, and fear my daughter will eventually share that allergy. Naturepedic is the brand I continued to come back to, as the best option on the market. Expensive, yes, but there are others that are far more, and none that are less that are made of cotton and not latex. What made me hesitate the most in my purchase is the reviews that said the mattress was too firm. I looked into organic mattress toppers that could help with that, but even those were a small fortune. Finally, I decided to go with this mattress. So glad I did, excellent choice. It is NOT too firm or too hard, it's extremely comfortable. It's possible that they made changes since some of these reviews were posted, to make it less hard. I have a terrible back & hip, and this mattress is comfortable to me. My daughter absolutely melts into it, and sleeps wonderfully! It had zero smell when we opened it - no off gassing, no need to air it out at all. When reading reviews, read the newest ones first. Because I think changes were made to this mattress to make it even better. For us, it's a non-toxic, organic, comfortable, odorless option for a mattress. I really think this one is your best bet!
I was slightly worried about ordering this mattress after reading a couple of reviews stating it was rock hard. I went ahead and ordered it anyway because my daughter has chemical sensitivities, and this was the least expensive, safest option I could find for her. I am happy to report that this mattress, while firm, is indeed comfortable enough- I actually fell asleep while laying with my daughter at bedtime and had a very restful night. My back and hips also felt great when I woke. My daughter slept like a rock and didn't stir until morning. I also noticed that, while I am usually a mouth breather when I sleep, it was very easy for me to breathe through my nose last night. This could be due to the newness of the mattress and the absence of dust mites, but I think the lack of chemicals is probably a contributing factor (I usually start sneezing whenever I walk into a store that sells new furniture because of the off-gassing chemicals). My daughter's nose seemed to stay clear as well. This was a big expenditure for us, but I'm glad we did it because now we have peace of mind that our little girl has a healthy place to sleep until she reaches adulthood. When we can afford it, I'd love to get a Naturepedic for the master bedroom as well.
