Aireloom is a brand of California based E.S. Kluft & Company that is sold exclusively in mattress retailers across the US. It's claim to fame is their patented 'Aireloom lift' that increases the areas of low pressure when one is laying on the mattress. This gives the sense that the bed is cradling you. However, there are common complaints about the mattress's durability and some claim that it sags. Additionally, price is a potential issue with the brand because there isn't transparent pricing online.
Maxim mattress is a California based mattress company that has been building innerspring and hybrid mattresses for the past 30+ years. They are well priced and offer a good variety of different mattresses for the budget conscious shopper. In terms of comfort, most find these mattresses comfortable, but some had concerns about durability and material quality.
Based on our aggregated reviews and our scoring method, we recommend Aireloom in this match up!

Finding out how sleepers really feel about a mattress is difficult business -- especially with some companies moderating reviews. These mattresses, unfortunately, don't score as well with customers. There are still folks that love their mattresses, but there are many others with complaints. Get more details on the specifics and hear from customers below.
Mattresses that are good at support are usually believed to be firm, but when we talk about support, we talk about material that works with your body to support the spine. These mattresses do a good job providing support for the average sleeper, but some have limited complaints about feel.
Most reviewers describe these mattresses as having good edge support, which preferred for those that like to sit on the edge of the bed or like to lie towards the sides of the mattress.
Bowling Ball & Density Tests
Some reviewers use the bowling ball test to measure if mattresses are good at providing support to the spine. These mattresses will provide a good amount of support overall, but if you have wide hips or shoulders, double check the firmness.
Unfortunately, these mattresses aren't appreciated as well for their durability. While some have experienced good performance, others describe problems with comfort over a short time. Make sure to take a look at the specifications, warranty, and reviews before buying.
Understanding how customers feel about mattresses can be a great guiding force for shoppers. Unfortunately, customers don't always have good things to say about these mattresses. Some have immediate comfort, but othere have complaints. If you are considering purchasing, make sure to get more information below.
A mattress with good support doesn't mean that it is necessarily firm. Support is great if it aligns the spine and leads to a healthy night's sleep. Sadly, not everyone thinks these mattresses are truly supportive. Most folks find the mattress to be supportive at the beginning, but some customers didn't feel supported well over time.
For those that need to sit on the edge of their bed or roll to the side, even edge support is very important. At first, these mattresses do a good job with edge support, but some found it didn't last as well as they would have hoped.
Long lasting mattresses are wonderful, but not always simple to discover. Sadly, sleepers don't rate these mattresses well when it comes to durability. This means that some customers may experience that their mattress lasts longer than average, while other mattresses may break down faster. If you have a wider frame than average, make sure to do some more research because you may be at a higher risk for durability issues.
BI have had my Rip Van Winkle Natural Dreams with Luxury Cashmere King bed for 12 years. Many could say that is a long life span however I would like to provide long term customer experience details. Extreme sagging from year 1. Called Sealy's where purchased and they came out and said natural use. Ridiculous. Offered me store credit of $1000 on a $5000 King Mattress.
2. This mattress is so darn heavy that it would take 3-4 strong adults to move it (I've moved 4 times in 12 years...everyone says it's the heaviest mattress to move)
3. After point 2 was made, can you imagine flipping and rotating this bed on your own? It takes 2 adults and still is ridiculous.
4. In addition to sagging it forms to your body so to speak so after 3 years it has looked like a body shape of a 200 lb woman and hump in the middle and a less dented body shape of a 160lb man. This causes lots of cumbersome rotating & flippingwhich is very difficult.
5. I've reached my life span of a $5000 (price paid on sale) mattress with a 25 year warranty after 12 years.
6. I'm currently mattress shopping and can buy a new Sealy for 1/3 of the price and not care if lasts 5-7 years.
Bought a aireloom mattress 6 months ago from sit and sleep. Worst mattress I have ever owned. Sags so bad that I wake up with a backache every morning. Sis and sleep well not do a thing about it
My husband and I have never been so cozy comfortable. We have the split king with adjustable base.
I immediately was relieved from hip pain that I had from a fairly new Temperpedic mattress.
The only complaint we have is: WE DON'T WANT TO GET OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING.
We purchased our Aireloom Chantille Ultra Plush Euro Top Eastern King mattress from Mancini's in Mountain View, CA., Nov. 2012. What had sold us on spending $8101.00 on a mattress was that when we tested it in the showroom we did not feel the movement of our partner. For us, who are light sleepers, this is a major deal. Our body was supported and it was very comfortable. A bit too high for us, so we exchanged the tall box spring for one that was several inches shorter.
We received that mattress and straight away there was a problem. Not Mancini's problem, we would need to contact an independent inspector (Premier Inspection Services,LTD.), at our expense, to analyze the mattress and make a recommendation. He did, and basically said that the problem was in our head.
Here it is 2016 and the mattress still does not live up to the mattress that we tested in the showroom. The shape is trapezoidal, and we feel every movement that our partner makes. Rolling over, change in position, sneezing and coughing are all felt by the other.
We feel gypped and misled. How could we have been so stupid. We could have purchased a cheaper mattress and changed it out when it no longer was comfortable.
We initially bought a tempurpedic based on many recommendations. 30 days later and my back was an absolute mess. I could hardly move and I was at the chiropractor 6 times in 30 days. The chemical smell was horrible and I was sweating my butt off. My wife could not bear to sleep in it. I even had my kids jump on it to try to 'break it in'.
So, we went back to the store and the sales person was very helpful in assisting with the problems that we were having. My wife stumbled across the Aireloom mattresses and suggested I try it out. I fell in love with the support and comfort immediately. The price kind of scared me initially, but with 30 days of hell behind me, I was up for anything. I like the fact that there are many 'real' materials in this mattress and it is not a cookie cutter mattress made out of chemicals. The delivered the mattress promptly and our first night was heaven. Support, cool and comfort. We noticed immediately that when the two of us were in the middle of the bed, there was considerable sag to the mattress. I was kind of perplexed by this until I was on the floor playing with our dog and my wife and kids were horsing around in the bed. I noticed that there was significant flex in the box spring support slats when they were rolling around on the bed. Being an amish bed frame, the box is supported by 3/4 inch oak slats that run from side to side. I made up support blocks positioned under the slats in the middle of the bed and the problem was rectified. This bed is as comfortable today as it was the day we bought it.
This is so interesting....A couple of years ago, my mom gave me her brand new, Aireloom Hybrid Bamboo mattress as she decided to purchased a different size (mine is a queen). I live in an older building, and there is a place in my bedroom floor where it's uneven, so when I started to feel like I had to roll uphill to turn over in bed, I figured it was the floor, not the mattress; however, my handyman used his balance to show me that the floor underneath my bed is indeed level, which was so baffling to me, as I feel as though I am sleeping in a ditch when I am on my side of the bed.
I have a solid platform bed, with storage drawers, so it can't be chalked up to an unsteady base or bed frame. I stumbled upon this site accidentally this evening, while researching mattresses, and am now 100% convinced that my mattress is to blame, and I am not crazy.
Not only that, but the mattress weighs about a million pounds, and sits inside the platform, so that changing the fitted sheet is akin to a strenuous gym workout. Just lifting the mattress is ridiculous. Once, while lifting the corner, I felt the fabric tear, on the underside of the mattress.
My mom kept telling me how expensive the mattress was, that it was a really good mattress. I can't lie; it's super cushy and comfortable, but the sagging is beyond annoying. I have propped it up under one side with books/magazines to even it out, but I can promise you I won't be spending my own money on an aireloom, when I am ready to replace this one.
When we tried this bed in the store my husband felt very comfortable as soon as he laid on it. I felt like it was a little firm, but thought I could get use to it. From the first night it has been a nightmare for both of us. We are exhausted! My back, shoulders, hips ache. It has gotten so bad after two weeks I have gone to the spare bedroom. My husband is not sleeping well and it feels like only after two weeks there is already a body impression on his side of the bed. He feels that the bed sleeps hot. I have not noticed that yet. Very disappointed overall.
Do not even think of buying an airloom bed. We bought one from Macys in Oceanside. It began to sag within about a month or two.
Made the mistake of waiting too long to call the company. You have 90 days. After that, they came out and agreed that it sagged , but since it wasn't over an inch and a half they would not take it back. Actually the bed sagged an inch and the box spring sagged another 1/2 inch which equals the 1 1/2 inches but since the box spring was involved they would not take it back. Macy's refused to help. We sold the bed less than a year later with over a $3000.00 loss.
My advice is do not get involved with Airloom.
I purchased an Aireloom Mattress. The store that I bought it from no longer carries Aireloom. The inspector from the independent inspection company determined that the mattress failed. Originally, Linda Menzel from Aireloom wanted me to spend about $1420 to ship the mattress to California from New Jersey and back. When I pointed out that they had a plant in PA, Ms. Menzel stated that it would cost $620 to ship the mattress to and from PA.
When I accepted their offer to ship the mattress to PA, Aireloom wanted me to sign an agreement not to disparage as well as waive any future legal rights. After questioning Ms. Menzel, she stated that even if the mattress were defective when it was returned to me, I could not sue Aireloom. By adding the requirement of not to disparage and to waive all future rights, they violated the terms of their warranty and thus defrauded me.
In my opinion, Aireloom is a terrible company to deal with because they do not honor their warranty. If they did this to me, do you think they will treat you any differently?
I bought an aireloom mattress from OC mattress in Costa Mesa CA. Was told when I bought this that there was no memory foam, but alas this was untrue. After purchase I noticed heat retention and complained to the store and manufacturer. Found out that it contained 7% memory foam. After several months have noticed sagging and 'holes.'' Paid lots of money and disappointed. Would not recommend.
If you're researching a new mattress please read the above reviews and DO NOT buy an Aireloom product. Like the others above have written within weeks my wife and I found our new mattress to be forming deep depressions. We called Aireloom and they sent an inspector and the results were that the 'holes' were within expected body depressions. That's the last Aireloom I'll ever buy. Absolute junk.
3 years ago my husband and I made the trek out to our local mattress retailer. We were buying two mattresses - one for personal use and the other for a duplex for our parents. Decided on two Sertas when at the last moment.....I spotted the Aireloom. I had to test it and I fell in love. It was the most comfortable bed I had ever tried! But alas, the honeymoon period ended and we were left with a mattress that had some serious sagging issues after only 3 years. Some might say that is a good life for a mattress but I have to point out the only two other mattresses we have purchased for personal use lasted at least 10 years each and with no sagging. We only replaced them because we wanted to try newer models. Aireloom - I wanted to love you! Love you for being handmade, being the cushiest bed on the showroom floor, for being the sexiest in looks and for being handmade in CA. Sorry but I can love you no more. Moving on to a new lover.
Best quality, best customer service. Been working with this company for years! They are a wonderful company who stands behind their product and truly cares about the customer's needs. I reccomend them to everybody!View More Reviews
Bought my mattress from Just Like Home furniture in Tarzana. We purchased a Blue Mist, the manufacturer is Maxim Mattress. WOW! I LOVE MY MATTRESS! Thank you Maxim for such a great nights sleep!
Highly recommended to buying maxim mattresses, lowest price with high quality, after I got this mattress my pain already said goodbye to me!!!!!
Being an Asian, it is common for us to sleep on very firm beds. When I first moved to the US, it was a pain looking for a firm mattress which was affordable at the same time. I went to so many stores looking for a cal king firm mattress with a budget of $800 and it proved to be impossible until I saw the reviews from Yelp on Maxims Mattress.
I went to Maxims Mattress and the showroom is nothing to shout about. It looks like a typical warehouse. Turns out, they manufacture mattresses too. The people at the store were straightforward about their products. They were not pushy. I just had to tell them exactly what I was looking for and my budget and they sold me a cal king firm mattress for $700. It was a brilliant deal. I could check out their stock, pick the mattress and they helped tie up the mattress on my ride. I saved on delivery charges and brought home the mattress that day itself. The whole process of purchasing the mattress and having it tied on my ride took less than 30 minutes.
Since I share the bed with my American boyfriend who likes his bed soft, we compromised and bought a 2 inch memory foam topper from Target and we now agree that it is the best bed ever. It is firm with a slight plush. No more backaches for us. In fact, we get backaches when we sleep on other beds. The next time we move, we are definitely bringing this mattress with us no matter what. Best investment ever.
I also went to Just Like Home furniture since they carry all the Maxim mattress models and they were so helpful and offered the best customer service and pricing!
Worst mattress ever! We purchased a mattress from this place. Both my husband and I have developed back pain. We wake up with pain to the point that hour limbs feel numb. We don't experience back pain when we travel or sleep on another mattress. We have ordered a new mattress after only five months of purchasing a Maxim mattress. I can't wait to receive the new one. I don't recommend this brand at all.
I bought a king size mattress a couple of years ago at first it was good but after about a year it started getting lopsided my wife's started complaining about back pains and I felt the same way so we contacted maxim and they said it was past a year so I had missed the warranty by two weeks I guess my bad but if you pay $800 bucks for a mattress it should last at least 3-4 years I learned my lesson I just went to sit n sleep they gave me 3 years and there just down the street on telegraph rd ask for Johnny he's good people!!!
I purchased a king size mattress from maxim Cony and they send me a California king size which does not fit my bed. The most ridiculous thing is they ask me to pay extra $50 for the second delivery. Which means I am paying extra money for to fix their mistakes. They should have compliment my delivery at all. Poor customer services! Irresponsible for their own mistakes. The delivery guy told me their king = California king!?!Why wouldn't they confirm the measurements before selling but instead they sell / push selling people what they already have in stock and ask the customer to suffer for the delivery cost if there was internal mistake made within themselves. Very poor sales skill and after sale service.
Not convinced of the quality of these mattresses. Wasted over $1,000 on a mattress I purchased directly from the company. It sleeps very hot and the bottom is covered in a fragile, almost paper-like fabric that easily rips. The sewn seams are also fragile and easily ripped. Not sure why one would spend money here when there are plenty of quality, inexpensive online retailers that offer generous return policies.
Oh yes I bought my second mattress at maxim mattress there warehouse in City of Commerce and its My 2nd mattress I get from them I am a native of Los Angeles California leaving now in Montebello and I am overwhelmed with the quality of the mattresses from this company is it it's just one of a kind it's quality. The service I gave him between 1 and 10, they get them at 10 for their honesty me and my wife are really totally over satisfied with their mattress I actually give them a five star and I hope they never go away because I always get my mattress there thanks thank you thanks to Connie it's a family business they do an excellent job thank you very much Jose your loyal customer
Bought a mattress with box springs manufactured by Maxim. At first, I was very satisfied and loved the feel of the mattress (perfect blend of firm but soft). Less than 4 months in and the box spring made so much noise, we sought to have it refunded. The store we purchased from stated the manufacturer was out of business and someone else was taking care of their warranties. I had a lot of issues with the store I purchased from following up on my request for exchange under warranty. Six months later we finally received a new box spring. At this point the mattress started to collapse on both side and the edges bulge out. The new box spring now makes the same noises as the old one. Save your money and steer clear of their products.
We love selling Maxim Mattresses at our business - WEST COAST FURNITURE OUTLET. The quality is superior to all other mattress brands. It is a great feeling knowing that our customers are always pleased with their mattress sets from Maxim. The sales rep Mario is always helpful with any questions we have. The company owner is also super friendly with the customers. We really enjoy doing business with a mattress manufacturer that is run in such an honest and caring manner. Thanks!
You've been warned. Do not buy a Maxim mattress, as you will regret it. Six months and nearly $1,500.00 later, my Maxim mattress was concaved and I was sleeping cocked. Their distributor sent me to them, where their customer service was non existent, zero follow up, and even less help on warranty or repair assistance. Being a small business owner myself focused on customer satisfaction, it disgusts me that they claim this on their website.
