Aireloom is a brand of California based E.S. Kluft & Company that is sold exclusively in mattress retailers across the US. Its claim to fame is their patented 'Aireloom lift' that increases the areas of low pressure when one is laying on the mattress. This gives the sense that the bed is cradling you. However, there are common complaints about some offerings' durability with some claiming sagging issues with some models. Additionally, price is a potential issue with the brand as their prices are much higher than other competitors.
Big Fig is the premier mattress for those with a 'bigger figure.' They make a super durable and supportive mattress that is designed to support plus-sized sleepers. With capacity to withstand distrubuted weights of up to 500-1000lbs and a 20 year warranty, these mattresses are super durable and perfect for those that have suffered from a lack of support, hot sagging beds, or are looking for a firm mattress.
Based on our aggregated reviews and our scoring method, we recommend Big Fig in this match up!

Understanding how customers feel about mattresses can be a great guiding force for shoppers. Customers, sadly, don't always have positive remarks about these mattresses. Some are content with the feel and comfort level, but others are not so much. If you are thinking about buying, make sure to get more details about the mattress below.
These mattresses are more supportive than most, which means that they align the spine for those that prefer their firmness specifications. That said, there are a few people that have reported issues, so make sure to do extra research to make sure that this mattress fits your sleeping preference and body type.
Overall, these mattresses are described as having good edge support, which means most don't experience a depression when sitting on the side of the mattress.
Bowling Ball & Density Tests
In tests of the mattress density evenness and firmness, there is good even support throughout. That said, some reviewers describe rare support issues, so read the reviews below before purchasing.
In addition to being well supported, having a long lasting mattress is what shoppers are looking for. We all really want to find a bed that will be comfy a decade or more later. Unfortunately, not all sleepers have felt that these mattresses were durable enought for them. If you are thinking about using this mattress nightly, read over the specs and policies to make sure it will work for you.
These mattresses are given high ratings from customers, which means when we evaluated current customer sentiment data from across the net, these mattresses ranked very well. This is a solid starting point to discovering if this mattress will work for you -- read on for more information on specifics.
Support is absolutely essential for great mattress brands, and these mattresses do a great job with supporting sleepers. Although you may think this means more firmness, supportive mattresses can also be medium or soft in firmness. The essential quality is whether it supports the spine or if it causes curvature in your body. These mattresses are market leaders when it comes to providing support.
Do you want to sit on the side of your bed without the dip? These mattresses provide a great seating position for you to put on socks or slippers.
Bowling Ball & Density Tests
Many reviewers like the bowling ball test, which shows the firmness of a mattress. Support across the mattress that matches a comfortable and supportive sleeping surface for your body is the most important thing to see. These mattresses offer consistency and even density so you can feel comfortable if you have wide shoulders or hips.
Designing higher quality mattresses that last is a difficult issue for mattress brands. First, they would need to invest in better materials, and put their products through even harder testing. Also, it is something that can be affected by other factors -- like comfort, body weight, and overall use. That said, these mattresses are rated exceedingly well on durability and based on the current reviews and materials used should last 7 - 12 years for most everyone.

BI have had my Rip Van Winkle Natural Dreams with Luxury Cashmere King bed for 12 years. Many could say that is a long life span however I would like to provide long term customer experience details. Extreme sagging from year 1. Called Sealy's where purchased and they came out and said natural use. Ridiculous. Offered me store credit of $1000 on a $5000 King Mattress.
2. This mattress is so darn heavy that it would take 3-4 strong adults to move it (I've moved 4 times in 12 years...everyone says it's the heaviest mattress to move)
3. After point 2 was made, can you imagine flipping and rotating this bed on your own? It takes 2 adults and still is ridiculous.
4. In addition to sagging it forms to your body so to speak so after 3 years it has looked like a body shape of a 200 lb woman and hump in the middle and a less dented body shape of a 160lb man. This causes lots of cumbersome rotating & flippingwhich is very difficult.
5. I've reached my life span of a $5000 (price paid on sale) mattress with a 25 year warranty after 12 years.
6. I'm currently mattress shopping and can buy a new Sealy for 1/3 of the price and not care if lasts 5-7 years.
Bought a aireloom mattress 6 months ago from sit and sleep. Worst mattress I have ever owned. Sags so bad that I wake up with a backache every morning. Sis and sleep well not do a thing about it
My husband and I have never been so cozy comfortable. We have the split king with adjustable base.
I immediately was relieved from hip pain that I had from a fairly new Temperpedic mattress.
The only complaint we have is: WE DON'T WANT TO GET OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING.
We purchased our Aireloom Chantille Ultra Plush Euro Top Eastern King mattress from Mancini's in Mountain View, CA., Nov. 2012. What had sold us on spending $8101.00 on a mattress was that when we tested it in the showroom we did not feel the movement of our partner. For us, who are light sleepers, this is a major deal. Our body was supported and it was very comfortable. A bit too high for us, so we exchanged the tall box spring for one that was several inches shorter.
We received that mattress and straight away there was a problem. Not Mancini's problem, we would need to contact an independent inspector (Premier Inspection Services,LTD.), at our expense, to analyze the mattress and make a recommendation. He did, and basically said that the problem was in our head.
Here it is 2016 and the mattress still does not live up to the mattress that we tested in the showroom. The shape is trapezoidal, and we feel every movement that our partner makes. Rolling over, change in position, sneezing and coughing are all felt by the other.
We feel gypped and misled. How could we have been so stupid. We could have purchased a cheaper mattress and changed it out when it no longer was comfortable.
We initially bought a tempurpedic based on many recommendations. 30 days later and my back was an absolute mess. I could hardly move and I was at the chiropractor 6 times in 30 days. The chemical smell was horrible and I was sweating my butt off. My wife could not bear to sleep in it. I even had my kids jump on it to try to 'break it in'.
So, we went back to the store and the sales person was very helpful in assisting with the problems that we were having. My wife stumbled across the Aireloom mattresses and suggested I try it out. I fell in love with the support and comfort immediately. The price kind of scared me initially, but with 30 days of hell behind me, I was up for anything. I like the fact that there are many 'real' materials in this mattress and it is not a cookie cutter mattress made out of chemicals. The delivered the mattress promptly and our first night was heaven. Support, cool and comfort. We noticed immediately that when the two of us were in the middle of the bed, there was considerable sag to the mattress. I was kind of perplexed by this until I was on the floor playing with our dog and my wife and kids were horsing around in the bed. I noticed that there was significant flex in the box spring support slats when they were rolling around on the bed. Being an amish bed frame, the box is supported by 3/4 inch oak slats that run from side to side. I made up support blocks positioned under the slats in the middle of the bed and the problem was rectified. This bed is as comfortable today as it was the day we bought it.
This is so interesting....A couple of years ago, my mom gave me her brand new, Aireloom Hybrid Bamboo mattress as she decided to purchased a different size (mine is a queen). I live in an older building, and there is a place in my bedroom floor where it's uneven, so when I started to feel like I had to roll uphill to turn over in bed, I figured it was the floor, not the mattress; however, my handyman used his balance to show me that the floor underneath my bed is indeed level, which was so baffling to me, as I feel as though I am sleeping in a ditch when I am on my side of the bed.
I have a solid platform bed, with storage drawers, so it can't be chalked up to an unsteady base or bed frame. I stumbled upon this site accidentally this evening, while researching mattresses, and am now 100% convinced that my mattress is to blame, and I am not crazy.
Not only that, but the mattress weighs about a million pounds, and sits inside the platform, so that changing the fitted sheet is akin to a strenuous gym workout. Just lifting the mattress is ridiculous. Once, while lifting the corner, I felt the fabric tear, on the underside of the mattress.
My mom kept telling me how expensive the mattress was, that it was a really good mattress. I can't lie; it's super cushy and comfortable, but the sagging is beyond annoying. I have propped it up under one side with books/magazines to even it out, but I can promise you I won't be spending my own money on an aireloom, when I am ready to replace this one.
When we tried this bed in the store my husband felt very comfortable as soon as he laid on it. I felt like it was a little firm, but thought I could get use to it. From the first night it has been a nightmare for both of us. We are exhausted! My back, shoulders, hips ache. It has gotten so bad after two weeks I have gone to the spare bedroom. My husband is not sleeping well and it feels like only after two weeks there is already a body impression on his side of the bed. He feels that the bed sleeps hot. I have not noticed that yet. Very disappointed overall.
Do not even think of buying an airloom bed. We bought one from Macys in Oceanside. It began to sag within about a month or two.
Made the mistake of waiting too long to call the company. You have 90 days. After that, they came out and agreed that it sagged , but since it wasn't over an inch and a half they would not take it back. Actually the bed sagged an inch and the box spring sagged another 1/2 inch which equals the 1 1/2 inches but since the box spring was involved they would not take it back. Macy's refused to help. We sold the bed less than a year later with over a $3000.00 loss.
My advice is do not get involved with Airloom.
I purchased an Aireloom Mattress. The store that I bought it from no longer carries Aireloom. The inspector from the independent inspection company determined that the mattress failed. Originally, Linda Menzel from Aireloom wanted me to spend about $1420 to ship the mattress to California from New Jersey and back. When I pointed out that they had a plant in PA, Ms. Menzel stated that it would cost $620 to ship the mattress to and from PA.
When I accepted their offer to ship the mattress to PA, Aireloom wanted me to sign an agreement not to disparage as well as waive any future legal rights. After questioning Ms. Menzel, she stated that even if the mattress were defective when it was returned to me, I could not sue Aireloom. By adding the requirement of not to disparage and to waive all future rights, they violated the terms of their warranty and thus defrauded me.
In my opinion, Aireloom is a terrible company to deal with because they do not honor their warranty. If they did this to me, do you think they will treat you any differently?
I bought an aireloom mattress from OC mattress in Costa Mesa CA. Was told when I bought this that there was no memory foam, but alas this was untrue. After purchase I noticed heat retention and complained to the store and manufacturer. Found out that it contained 7% memory foam. After several months have noticed sagging and 'holes.'' Paid lots of money and disappointed. Would not recommend.
If you're researching a new mattress please read the above reviews and DO NOT buy an Aireloom product. Like the others above have written within weeks my wife and I found our new mattress to be forming deep depressions. We called Aireloom and they sent an inspector and the results were that the 'holes' were within expected body depressions. That's the last Aireloom I'll ever buy. Absolute junk.
3 years ago my husband and I made the trek out to our local mattress retailer. We were buying two mattresses - one for personal use and the other for a duplex for our parents. Decided on two Sertas when at the last moment.....I spotted the Aireloom. I had to test it and I fell in love. It was the most comfortable bed I had ever tried! But alas, the honeymoon period ended and we were left with a mattress that had some serious sagging issues after only 3 years. Some might say that is a good life for a mattress but I have to point out the only two other mattresses we have purchased for personal use lasted at least 10 years each and with no sagging. We only replaced them because we wanted to try newer models. Aireloom - I wanted to love you! Love you for being handmade, being the cushiest bed on the showroom floor, for being the sexiest in looks and for being handmade in CA. Sorry but I can love you no more. Moving on to a new lover.
I wish I had ready reviews like these before spending over $3000 on our Aireloom in 2012. We expected this mattress to last 20-25 years. When we first got the mattress I couldn't have been more satisfied. It was firm, supportive and so good for my bad back recovering from surgery. Within a few months I noticed I was making a sag in the bed. I tried moving around in the bed more and that helped for a while but now my husband and I are so miserable sleeping in this bed that we can't wait to replace it. We have flipped it end to end but I'd rather return to an old fashioned innerspring mattress that I can flip over. It just makes sense that with more sleeping surface the mattress will last longer. I will for sure NEVER spend $3K on a mattress again.
I have had a real problem with sciatica over the last couple of years. While this mattress has not prevented it, better body pressure distribution seems to have really helped. I don’t wake up in the AM tired and feeling achey.
Macy's was a pleasure to work with throughout and the mattress has been very comfortable so far.
We had been looking for a new mattress for over 2 years, and finally landed on the Airloom Hybrid. Already on the first night, I noticed when I woke up in the middle of the night, my hip and shoulder pain I would typically feel before I rolled to the other side was gone! This mattress really takes the pressure off.
I took my time to find the right bed for my needs and really liked the Aireloom Hybrid. When I returned to buy it, my salesperson was tied up with another customer so that allowed me a good half hour to lie on the bed to make sure it was the one for me. Within 2 weeks of owning the mattress I noticed it wasn't springing back into shape. I've only owned it a month now and it has such deep depressions from my body (and I'm only 5' tall and 115 lbs!) that it feels almost as uncomfortable as my old mattress and is hurting my back. I've informed the salesperson I worked with that I'll be returning this one and hoping she can find something that will work as well as I hoped the Aireloom would. Highly disappointed.
Tried this bed 3 times at Macy’s laid on it , sales women was great she recommended this bed I looked at a few in mac
We tried 3 different mattresses in 3 months before picking this one. The others were either too firm or too soft, but this one was absolutely perfect. Plush, but with the right amount of support. Finally getting the best nights sleep. Waking up feeling rested, and not sore. If you are picky about your mattress, this is the one to try....you wont regret it.
Love this mattress, so comfortable, soft, best sleep in a long time.
Shopping for a new mattress had turned into a nightmare, between pop up stores and online beds in a box/bag I'd given up. Then I thought Macy's that were my parents would go. Our salesman was great listened to our needs and pointed us to several options, gave us the time we needed to decide. Delivery and set up was a breeze. Great mattress! ! Love it.
Very comfortable, conforms to body for a comfortable night sleep. I have spinal problems and this has been a big help. It lets me toss and turn with no problems. I tried many mattress' in the store, and this one worked. The salesman was wonderful it took us 2 hours and many jumping from mattress to mattress, his patience was above and beyond.
My purchase could not have been accomplished without the help of the OUTSTANDING Members of the Macy's team in San Francisco at Union Square. Their care and attention to my unique needs and wishes got this very important purchase accomplished. Lili Spagnoletta helped me this time and with my previous mattress over 15 years ago. For this purchase she got her Customer Service Manager Lori to help secure financing options. They Really Care!
We tested out this bed in the store and it was, by far, the most comfortable! We tried at least a dozen beds that were 5X the cost and this one was the best. The delivery was seamless and we can't wait to sleep on this tonight!
Took a couple of days to get use too, since I was sleeping on a mattress over 20 years old. Now I love it, and would definitely recommend it. Also had great delivery service on a very hot day!
It's firm and yet soft. Very comfortable! Great Buy!
It’s been exactly one year since purchase. Have called for questionablydefect internally. Mattress sags on one side causing excessive backache for me yet other side is firm. My weight 215 lbs. we purchased for a it being firm and king size. Compared to a foam inner coil mattress purchased in 2003, now 2019, this mattress is better built and low indentation of body points on bed. For the Airloom, I have to wake up completely to turn over. Yet when testing was done on Airloom, it was visually different between side and what measurement that was taken only involved a string pulled taught across mattress and a card with lines drawn to distinguish body indentation. There wasn’t any weighted pressure on points where indents were to measure any foam or spring collapse. I have now received letter from company I purchased from saying it meets standards under warranty. I’m doing a follow up for better practices to measure internal, not visual, of mattress. Over $4000 spent with less than 1 year of use. My queen foam/coil mattress after 16 years outperforms the Airloom and my back doesn’t hurt.
I have owned my Aireloom mattress for about 11 years. I called and emailed customer service and never received an answer. After 3 weeks of trying, I finally reached someone who was extremely rude. I weigh 110 pounds and the indentation of my body is so deep that I can't move at night. When I asked if they have any kind of warranty they said they can't guaranty anything, without asking what the problem is. I would not suggest purchasing this procuct
I really wanted to love my AIRLOOM CORONADO mattress. I wanted to support the local California business and own a handcrafted bed. But what happened is that I wasted $5000 and now have a giant piece of trash in my bedroom that I have to dispose of. After only 4 months, I noticed the mattress was starting to sag but I didn't despair because the mattress has a warranty. But this is just a scam because it took multiple phone calls and emails to get Airloom to send out a mattress inspector. This inspector makes all the movements of performing an inspection, taking measurements and photos. But, in the end, Airloom does nothing. Like other unfortunate customers, I will be returning to the mattress store to purchase something with a better reputation.
It's disappointing how the quality of this mattress doesn't match its price. This mattress sags and has given my husband and I lower back problems. I didn't realize how the bed was causing my lower back problems until I had to travel for work a few weeks ago and the very first night back, my lower back pain started again. We've also attempted to rule out other problems (sleep with pillow support between knees when sleeping on the side, sleep without a pillow when sleeping on back, put a small pillow underneath knees when sleeping on back) to no avail. My husband and I have gone to chiropractors for alignments, yet the lower back problems persist; we've concluded that the issue is the bed and have already ordered a new mattress from another provider. Good riddance!
Worst mattress ever for the money. The tufted buttons make it very uncomfortable.
I like to sleep on my side and since I've had my new mattress, my shoulders don't hurt when I wake up. The mattress is working great. My only complaint is with the shipping company that delivered it. The box was a mess that the foundations came in. It looked like it had been opened then closed back up and it was smashed pretty good. The foundations were fine, but they didn't match. One was dark blue and one was black. I didn't make a big deal out of it since you can't see them anyway.View More Reviews
I love the strength and support our Big Fig mattress provides while still being comfortable. Still no body indentations! It's a great investment!
This is the most high quality mattress (and boxspring) I have ever slept on. It's even better than more expensive mattresses I have owned. You can tell that every single part is high quality. I've slept on it about six months now and it is as new as day 1. It is very, very heavy and I can barely rotate the mattress on my own. Even the guys who delivered this were curious and impressed by it's build. I anticipate that this mattress will last a minimum of 10 years and quite possibly 20. I found it to be very firm and purchased a high quality 2.5 inch thick, 4.5 lb density memory foam mattress topper for it to make it super cushy. I did this because the cushy part of mattresses always wear out and I wanted it to be replaceable. The top of this mattress is fine, I am not saying it will wear out, but I need super duper softness. I also need a great and supportive mattress for the cushiness. So I searched and searched for the most high quality mattress I could find and took a chance on Big Fig. Glad I did. Now all my friends and family want one. They literally say, "This is the most amazing bed I've ever felt." And they are right!
If you are undecided about what mattress to buy look no further. This is the most amazing matress. You can feel the strength to this mattress and yet it is soft and comfy to sleep on. My back pain has vanished and I wake in the same spot I fell asleep in no tossing and turning.
I am 6'2" 300 lb football player type of guy that needed a new mattress as my old air mattress was over 20 years old. I did my online homework and then began shopping at the locally owned and national mattress stores. All promised a mattress that would work for me, but prices began at $2500 and worked up to $5000. I reviewed the online mattress manufacturers and based on reviews, ordered one of the name hybrid mattress (did not come folded in a box) that claimed to support "large" people for about $1500. After 4 weeks and trips to the chiropractor, I returned the mattress. Their customer support was excellent. After reviewing mattress designs, I elected to buy a natural latex mattress that would support "large" people for about $2200. It was far better than the hybrid but was too soft and I would sink resulting poor alignment of my back. After 4 weeks, I returned the mattress with again excellent customer support. I then read about Big Fig. After my previous experiences, I was skeptical so I called the company. I spoke to a very knowledgeable person that understood my needs. In fact, he may have been an owner. Since I had an adjustable bed, I only purchased the mattress. It has now been 8 weeks and I love the mattress. I did place a topper on the mattress that met my personal desires. In addition, it works well with the adjustable bed frame. The support is excellent...not too firm nor too soft. Upon lying on the bed, I quickly fall asleep and can only say "thank you" for making a mattress for "large" people.
I was skeptical about an online purchase, but after several attempts to find a good mattress from local stores and having them fall apart in less than a month, I was ready for something different. . When Allison (I'm pretty sure that was her name) called me to answer my questions, I was sold. Great customer service!!! The first night I slept on this matress, I was in heaven!!! The wife said it was too hard at first, but by the 3rd night she fell in love as well. I'll never buy anything but a Big Fig from now on!
I've had my BigFig for about a month now. I could tell before i even got to sleep on it how well it was built. I don't feel exhausted when I wake up anymore. I'm a big guy and love this mattress. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.
I am very pleased with my new mattress. It is medium firm as described. I found it a bit tall when combined with my beautiful bed frame. Despite the fact that I'm tall (5'8"), my feet don't touch the ground when I sit on the edge but the edge doesn't collapse. I may try it without the platform.
Well its been 2 weeks so far and I can not say anything but good things about the big fig mattress. Its well built and its a good firm mattress. I am a big guy whose struggled to find one that would hold up for me for any length of time. Will know for sure in the future but from all indications, its everything I expected it to be. Thanks for building a great product.
We got what we expected! Took about 2 weeks to be broke in fully but we love the comfort and stability. Definitely happy with our purchase
My husband and I have always struggled with back problems, and they've nearly disappeared since purchasing this bed. He's 6'3" and 250 lbs; I'm 5'6" and 120 lbs. Needless to say, it was difficult for us to find a bed that met our needs. Over the past 5 years we've purchased 2 other expensive mattresses that broke down. This is the 3rd and last purchase we'll be making in a long while. It feels sturdy and well-made. It doesn't sink in the middle, and I don't feel my husband or wake up when he moves at night. It's soft enough for me and firm enough for him. Couldn't recommend it more; absolutely love it.
The bed is just as described on the website. No sagging when sleeping or sitting. It is the best mix of firm and comfort. We had it delivered and the old bed hauled away. All went as expected. I would recommend for Big Figs, Small Figs, and any Fig in between! Thanks Big Fig mattress!!
I have had our Big Fig bed for one month now and I love it! It seems to be made very well and is firm.
Would not have believed how comfortable this mattress was! Purchased other brands but they all fell short of expectations. Finally took the chance and purchased Big Fig. The best purchase I EVER MADE! From night one fell asleep immediately and it's been that way ever since! To all big and tall people "try it, you'll like it" if I could give it more stars... I would !!
I was very skeptical, but I can actually say that this is the best mattress that I believe that I have ever slept on. I've had It now a little over 4 weeks , I love my new bed !!
My husband and I both are bigger people and beds break down so fast with us. We go through mattresses usually once or twice a year and that was really costing us some big bucks. Finally, this is what we've been waiting for. It feels supportive and strong enough to hold us both. We've slept on it for almost 100 nights now and it's definitely a keeper!!!
Occasionally my back hurts, as firm mattresses (like hotel mattresses) do that to me. However, it's not nightly and if the mattress holds up long-term, I'll be happy. Fairly comfortable just to sit or lay on and watch TV. Good so far.
My Big Fig has so much support. I love it so much. I am 350 lbs and always have had problems with my back. This bed provides relief for my already injured lower back. I wake up refreshed and without pain. Thank you Big Fig for making a wonderful product.
So far so good! Love the firmness and the fact that we don't jostle each other when we move. It's early in our experience with the Big Fig, but we love it so far! Thanks for a great product.
I did a lot of research on beds before we bought the Big Fig. I wanted a bed that would last -- one that would not sag and develop the grooves I had become used to. The Big Fig was the first mattress company that seemed to care how their product held up over time. When the bed was delivered, I knew we made a good choice. This is a solid piece of furniture. (pay for delivery and install). It's heavy. It's also very firm, but somehow still soft and comfortable. We've had it for several months and it is still like new -- not a trace of sagging! We both sleep really well and are very pleased with this purchase.
I just wanted to say that buying our big fig mattress was one of the best decisions that we ever made. As a plus size couple this mattress is the perfect one for us so far. It is very comfortable. We bought a King Size mattress and we have a full bed with myself, my husband and Gretchen, our rotten basset hound. She snuggles in between us and makes it known that she is doing us a favor by letting us join her in "her" new bed.
Have had the mattress one month. I purchased a California King. So far I am very satisfied on all fronts. I am 6'8" 340 lbs. I am a back and side sleeper and my wife is a stomach sleeper. The Big Fig is a very solid (and firm) well made mattress. It's firmness level is supposed to be the best for sleepers like my wife and I. I wanted to try a memory foam mattress and after extensive research I decided I wanted (and recommended due to my size) a hybrid mattress. My research of mattresses showed most had maximum weight capacity of 300-350 lbs. I found the Big Fig which had a 1000 lb capacity. I took a chance (ZERO objective online mattress reviewers who are not compensated by the manufacturers in some fashion) and purchased the Big Fig based on very few customer reviews (all positive). The company's description of their product appears to be honest and accurate. The mattress is firm yet it allows you to sink in just enough to avoid pressure points. The edge is solid and you don't sink/slide when sitting on the edge of the bed. My wife's back pain she had prior to the purchase subsided after several nights of sleep on the Big Fig. I'm still getting used to it but every night seem better then the previous (I've slept on traditional medium firm pillow top mattresses for years). I must warn you that the mattress is tall so measure accurately for your individual needs. I am tall so it is not a problem but my wife has difficulty. I should have purchased the shorter foundation. Also be warned it is a heavy mattress so make sure you have a solid bed frame and I also recommend purchasing the white glove delivery. In conclusion, I have to give the Big Fig five stars and will definitely update my review if something changes.
I wrote this review on my blog: https://lividlipids.wordpress.com/2017/07/05/review-big-fig-mattress/ My real life review is that the Big Fig mattress is THE REAL DEAL. Back in March we got a new @bigfigmattress. I’ve been waiting to sleep on it awhile before giving a review but was thinking now is about the time. This is a phone snap of my real life Big Fig – no models or made beds here. The baby is asleep in the crib four feet away and that card is covering a period stain on the sheet. I’m going to go from the bottom to the top, so first up: the frame. Big Fig offers a recycled railroad steel frame. I can’t budge it by myself. It’s seriously strong – I don’t think it’s going to move from where the delivery guys put it together. Our last bed frame was on plastic wheels that broke off; the Big Fig frame has nice sturdy feet with a little bumper pad on the bottom. We bought a king size, so we have two boxspring platforms that are pushed together underneath the mattress. They’re a gorgeous indigo color and if I’m honest, I haven’t much to comment on them besides that. I’m not a boxspring expert. The mattress is, in short, amazing. The firmness is startling after years on a lumpy, shitty mattress – but it is so wonderful. It’s soft and supportive. If you lie down on your back, it’s flat and firm enough that you can feel your spine start to settle down and straighten out. If you lie on your side, it gives enough to be comfortable but provides excellent support to your body. I tend to fall asleep on my back and roll to my side in the middle of the night. I’m five months postpartum, it’s been amazing to have the support after struggling with sciatica and a shitty memory foam mattress during pregnancy. It’s also been a real RELIEF for my hot flashes and postpartum sweats; the bed sleeps cool just like they say. I do NOT get hot in the middle of the North Carolina night where our thermostat sits at 77 while running constantly. The mattress helps my back – it’s comfortable – it’s cool – it’s solid. It seems like it’s legit gonna hold up to mine and hubby’s big butts over time. If for some reason it did not, I really like their warranty policy. Our last mattress was a Bed in the Box memory foam and had a separated foam top that buckled and body impression wallows 4″ deep in the mattress we sunk into, but the warranty didn’t kick in until there was a 6″ difference (can you imagine?). Big Fig’s 20 year warranty is superior; it only takes a 1″ body impression for them to repair or replace the mattress. I find it to be somewhat telling that since getting our Big Fig mattress, we’ve got a lot more photos taken on our bed. Like, three compared to none before. I think me and the kids may actually be spending more time just hanging out on the bed rolling around relaxing and snuggling. The only bad part of the Big Fig mattress is the price. It’s going to be in the range of “expensive” for most peers I know. It’s going to perhaps seem even more expensive when you’re comparing the price to all the blowout mattress store sales that might be in your area. If you listen to/read this piece by Freakanomics, you’ll be probably be thinking hell, why am I paying extra for this mattress then, if the market is inflated? Personally I think the extra testing of the mattress speaks well for Big Fig: better, more expensive materials means making and providing a better product to big-bodied customers at comparable prices. I would bet a good night’s sleep that Big Fig has smaller profit margins compared to other mattress makers in order to do it. “I guess that’s one benefit to an inflated market,” said my husband, as I explained this. AND HOW! They also seem to have really cute customer service. They reminded me that I’ve been wanting to write a review – they sent a little gift package with Bon Maman fig jam in it and a handwritten card. Talk about darling! (And tasty. I love Bon Maman.) If you’re big, get you a Big Fig! You won’t regret it.
The Big Fig arrived at our home over 6 months ago. While we were a bit nervous to order a mattress online, after talking with customer service, we felt very comfortable with knowing they understood not everyone would love their product and how the return would work. Well, I am happy to report we love our Big Fig and did not return our mattress. The Big Fig is very sturdy. You lay on top of the mattress and do not sink into it. Six months later and still no sink to the mattress. My favorite thing to report is that I toss and turn a lot in my sleep which has always bothered my husband. I do continue to toss and turn but my husbands side of the bed does not move. I think it's easy to say this was one of the best online purchases we have made. Thank you Big Fig!
We've had our Big Fig mattress now for 3-4 months now. When I compare it to mattresses I have purchased in the past, I know that this mattress is built to last. It's definitely heavy duty -- you'll definitely need some help to rotate it. We bought the bed frame with it and it's rock solid -- as well as the foundation. All three together make a bed that will seems indestructible. And not a squeak or noise at all from any of it. We love it.
My husband and I are both plus sized, and have suffered through an array of inferior mattresses over the years. While doing some research to find a good mattress for the both of us, my husband found Big Fig. We have had our mattress for just over a month, now, and we couldn't be more pleased! We are both sleeping soundly, and actually resting well, for a change. My husband is a battle wounded veteran, and he is able to stay comfortable throughout the night, for the first time in years. We both wake up without all the back, shoulder and hip pains we used to have! It's really a great night's sleep! The customer service is also fantastic! We had an issue with our delivery, and the Big Fig customer service was great to deal with and did everything in their power to make the situation right. We could not have asked for more! Great people - great mattress!!
Thank you for Big Fig! A good night's sleep and a good night's play!
We did our research and ordered the Big Fig mattresses-- we expected a lot and they did not disappoint
My wife and I were really excited to get our Big Fig delivered. Right away, we noticed the difference in firmness compared to our last mattress. The Big Fig was firmer but in a good way. It's the kind of firmness that decreases back pain and increases our quality of sleep. We can tell this mattress is going to be with us for quite some time, which makes us happy because everyone knows how tedious mattress shopping can be!
We find the bed to be very comfortable and so far we are loving it. It is not losing its shape. And thank you very much for the jam. That was very sweet of you!
We have been sleeping on our Big Fig Mattress for over a month now and are very happy! We noticed a difference right away as it was delivered. When our old $3,000 king size mattress was removed, it nearly folded in half almost like a taco. We couldn't believe we had spent so much money on it and it didn't last! There was no "folding" the Big Fig. Even with its sturdiness, it is incredibly comfortable and we are finally getting a good night's rest without waking up to our typical aches and pains from sinking into our old mattress. We purchased the king size bed because we also have 2 large dogs who seem to love it as well! We're confident this mattress will last us a very long time.
After many years of sore back issues this bed has provided great relief and very comfortable sleep. The quality construction is apparent.
My husband and I have been using our Big Fig mattress for over two weeks and absolutely love it. It is the deepest sleep that I have had in a long time. Our old mattress did not have much support so my husband and I would wake up every morning with some new ache or pain. He has back issues and I have a shoulder issue. So, it was difficult to sleep through an entire night. We started looking around at mattresses and quickly realized we were not memory foam people. Just did not like the feel of it. We needed something that was solid and firm, but still soft and comfortable. We have found what what we were looking for with the Big Fig mattress (Queen Size). I can't explain the technical details on how the bed is made. I just know that I have never slept on any thing so firm/sturdy before. The pillow top is just enough to make it very comfortable. We also ordered the White Glove delivery and was very happy with the service. They were there on time and quickly setup the bed. We are very happy with our purchase!
This is by far one of the sturdiest beds we've been in together. The sides of the mattress hold up better than any other mattress that we've had and recovers quickly. Looking forward to lots of good sleep on my Big Fig.
My Big Fig Mattress has transformed the way I feel about going to bed every night! I used to dread restless nights and now I find myself having my most restful sleep in years. The mattress itself is firm and substantial yet soft and comfortable. I feel like I've finally found a mattress that won't give me back pain or wear out in a few years.
We LOVE our Big Fig mattress. It's sturdy, firm and amazingly comfortable. Pocketed coils make movement in bed unnoticeable. We have been sleeping so much better since we made the switch. We recommend this mattress to anyone looking for an excellent sleep experience.
I love it. It's very firm and gives great support, especially in the lower back section.
Something that has really surprised me is the fact that the mattress stays cool at night. I'm a very hot sleeper, so I expect to overheat throughout the night. So far, with the Big Fig, I haven't. We received the Big Fig, and have been using it for a week or so. I've been pleasantly surprised with the level of quality, and the fact that it does what it says it does on the website. It's been great for both my Wife and I so far.
When I initially got the big fig mattress the first thing that I noticed was how heavy it was. I was shocked and when I looked more at it I could tell that the heft was from the build quality. I'm used to the box springs that come with mattresses breaking after a bit of use, so it was great to see one built so well. When I initially sat on the mattress I was impressed that I didn't immediately sink into the mattress. It has been a long time since that has happened. I absolutely love sleeping on the big fig. It doesn't cave in or form weird crevices that usually come from a heavier person sleeping on them. I also noticed that the big fig sleeps cooler. I didn't wake up covered in sweat like usual. I have also noticed a decrease in the amount of tossing and turning during the night. It's really easy to get comfy and stay comfy on the big fig. It is a strong and supportive mattress. I highly recommend the mattress to everyone, I cannot rave enough about the big fig.
I’m plus size and my boyfriend is tall. It’s great to finally see a mattress that’s made just for us!
