Serta Perfect Sleeper's Specifics

Quality of Materials

Serta makes three different lines of mattresses: the Perfect Sleeper, iComfort, and Sertapedic. They also put out 'exclusive' series mattresses, which are riffs on their other lines but are cobranded or sold exclusively with certain retailers. You'll notice that their online models are not named the same as what you find in stores. Don't be concerned -- if you look at the top, firmness, and profile, you'll find the same mattress. On materials, beware of low grade options as they may not have the same type of quality that you would expect at the same pricepoint elsewhere. There are reports that durability is an issue with some of these mattresses.

The pros: Mattresses with a big brand. Traditional innerspring option for those that want a classic feel.

The cons: The mattresses are often marked up drastically and there is confusion on which model has congruence online vs in-store.

Mattress Types

We'll go through each of Serta's lines in detail and outline what sets them apart from the competition.

Perfect Sleeper

The Serta Perfect Sleeper line is its mid-priced line. Most of these mattresses are traditional innerspring models with pillow tops or foam additions. Their mid-grade Cushion Top Firm Pillow Top runs medium firm, has a top layer of gel memory foam in the pillow top for comfort, individually wrapped coils which provide good response and pressure point relief, and an innerspring base boxpring.

The pros of this line of mattresses are competitive priced innerspring options for the brand.

The cons are that some are disappointed by the durability and craftmanship.

Price Range: $499-$1649

Final Score: 6.4 / 10

iComfort

The Serta iComfort is its premier line and highest priced. They offer two different types of mattresses: hybrid and foam, which have higher profiles than the Perfect Sleeper varieties. Their high end SmartSupport Super Pillow Top runs medium firm, has one layer of gel infused memory foam for cooling, an additional layer of foam to relieve pressure points, and one layer of an individually wrapped memory foam array over their array of pocket coils for additional response.

The pros: High end hybrid mattress with layers of foam for comfort.

The cons: High price point for the materials used -- some still report lesser durability than other hybrids.

Price Range: $649-$3899

Final Score: 6.5 / 10

Sertapedic

The Sertapedic line is the lowest priced mattresses that Serta offers. They offer two options: memory foam and innerspring. A mid-priced innerspring option has individually wrapped coils, and 4'' of a variety of foams.

The pros: Very affordable price for an innerspring or hybrid mattress.

The cons: Some have reported that these mattresses have broken down quickly.

Price Range: $299-$899

Final Score: 6.5 / 10

Really nice when warm. Hard as a brick when cold.

Have a cabin where the bed room temp is around 60 in the winter. The upper 3 inches of gel memory foam is really ridgid when cold. Climb into a cold bed is more like climbing onto a piece of plywood. After about 10 minutes, your body temp softens the foam and it is really comfortable... until you roll over too far onto a cold slab and you are back on the plywood.

I sure hope summer is more comfy.
